  1. Uncharted waters for me. Anyone ever play with them?? I have been looking at Prochargers, but I'll take whatever info is out there. Jim +
  2. Thats what I thought, but one can hope lol. At least the fresh rebuilt 400 will fit. Any one need any Caprice parts??? Jim
  3. Anyone know if a rear from a 71 caprice will fit a 70 monte?? I have the oppurtunity to grab a free posi 3:73 10 bolt(i think) out of one...but I haven't seen it yet. Jim
  4. Al, don't buy one yet. i have a few I'll check over the weekend. Jim
  5. I believe the bell housing are different between a chevy block and a B.O.P. block (buick, olds, pontiac)so it won't bolt up to the block, unless of ourse the cutlass was running a chevy block. Jim
  6. I worked at a non-chain auto parts store for a lil while. The computer asks the same questions no matter what part you want....we just didn't ask the customer the obviously irrelevant ones. Its pretty funny that most auto part stores chain or not use the same computer program. At least I find it funny lol Jim
  7. Hey Andreas, I may be wrong but I believe freeze 12 has a flamable chemical in it and therefore is not suitable for automotive use. As far as I know, there are no truly "legal" drop in replacements for r12 (I hope someone tells me I'm wrong here)I really don't have a clue about the POA valve, so I am no help on that question. Really, I just wanted to put my 2 cents in and let everyone know to read the labels carefully on any refridgerant you buy. If is dosen't say for autonotive use, it has something flamable in it and can be very dangerous. Jim
  8. As far as changing to 134, the only thing i have seen is any seal that is borderline will leak. The 134 molecule is smaller then the r12 so it can leak in spots the 12 didn't. Make sure whatever kit you use is approved for AUTOMOTIVE a/c systems. There are alot of kits out there with all knids of stuff in them that are very flamable and will eat the rubber lines and seals over time. Just look on the can and it should say automotive on it somewhere, if it dosen't, choose another brand. Also make sure you use the oil charge that comes with the kit. It conditions the left over mineral oil to work with the pag oil for 134. Most a/c failures are from lack of lubrication. Hope this helps, any other questions just post em Jim
  9. No comments because we are busy logging in and out lol Jim
  10. I have used several of the lucas products and found they ae the only additives that do anything. I put the trans additive in my dodge p-up and the shifts firmed up noticably. I ran it for 20k then sold the truck so I don't know if there was any long term problems, Jim
  11. If all of the bulbs are good, try a new flasher. There should be 2 of them, 1 for the hazards and one for the signals. i have seen them go bad and only one side dosen't work. Does not make sense to me but it has been known to happen. Jim ------------------
  12. I've run into a problem on newer gm's with fuseible link wires at the starter. I don't know how familiar you are with these, but they can be decieving. When they go bad the wire will break inside the insulation. They should burn the outside also so you can see it , but they don't always. are you checking power with a test light or a voltmeter? A test light dosen't always give the best result, it may light with as little as 6 volts which will not run the car. Just my lil input, hope it helps. jim
