  1. Dave, I just gotta ask, how'd you set the exhaust tips without the bumper hung on the car?
  2. Hey Jerry, the filter should go after the pump. Inline electric pumps have a screen on their inlets to keep out the bigger junk.
  3. A friend recently shattered his 12 bolt in his blown '66 Impala (he says it's because I told him it would happen). He's ordered a D60. Years ago, I cleaned the teeth off my 9 inch. When I get this car apart again, I'm going with a D60.
  4. Now that's what I'm talkin about!! Hey Kevin, shouldn't the sump be more at the rear or the tank towards the the bumper? If you're making some "real" power (and it looks like you are heeheehee) and you're hooking, I would suggest you get one of those cast covers that'll help support the bearing caps. They also have way convenient fill and drain plugs.
  5. Looks good Sam! You should be cruising by tonight, right?
  6. BTW guys, don't think that if you go with AC-Delco, you'll be getting "the best" or "the original" anymore. Here's the story: =============================================================== AC-Delco of the past was a good quality GM controlled and operated brand. ACDelco today is post bankruptcy (it was sold off) and now gets parts from all around the world. Wire sets are assembled in Mexico with Asian components. If you get a box that says AC-Delco, it's the real deal. If the box says ACDelco, it's the newer stuff. The " - " in the name is the tattletale.
  7. I'm pretty sure Spicer suspension components were absorbed/taken over by some other company. I think the only "real" top shelf best suspension parts today is Raybestos professional grade. Having said this, I recently did a complete front suspension replacement on my '03 Jimmy. The Raybestos professional grade ball joints I used said "made in China" but they looked pretty robust and had some pretty hefty boots on them. About the Moog/Mevotec parts, you'd be shocked how many parts are made by other companies-and the amount of "re-boxing" that goes on. No doubt the Mevotec $18 link is the identical part as the Moog $60 part. I feel that a real good grease applied often helps keep joint wear down. I use Lucas Red & Tacky.
  8. Hey Matt, the center link does have joints on the ends that wear out just like a tie-rod end or ball joint. The Moog DS749 is a pretty good one that can be had for around $60.00 at Amazon. Mevotech lists the exact same thing with a number of MDS749 and can be had for like 18 bucks.
  9. Darren, I just gotta ask, how did you come to having ten yellow trunk release buttons??
  10. Don't I see on the corner of that build sheet LS6/L89 with M22? Congrats on the confirmation. Nice lookin ride! If the car was ordered with the V30 front & rear bumper guards, it would've deleted the rear bumper pad. I would put the pad on the car and keep the front guards.
  11. All this discussion about guys claiming 4 speed SS cars made me think of those guys with "450 HP" decals on their 1965 396 Corvettes.
  12. Wheel Vintiques has "correct' rally wheels in 16 through 18 inch diameters with a variety of widths and backspacing. It's their 66 series. BUT they don't have the "correct" trim rings for these wheels. I do NOT like their 68 series chromed versions of these wheels.
  13. I see. It sure was the wild west of automobiles back then, eh? "I'll take my SS with drum front brakes. And the LS6 with them L89 aluminum heads, please. Where do i sign?"
  14. Very neat indeed. So, if these cars came standard with front disc brakes, how did some end up with all drums?
  15. I knew it was one of us, thanks!
  16. Thanks for the list Leo. Page three of the 1970 brochure shows power disc brakes as standard. Have you seen a MC with all drums? I know early '70 cars came with front rotors that had a separate hub. The Impala cloth is also a new one on me-but not a surprise.
  17. I took this picture in a car at Captree.
  18. I've known of it on other cars, but never knew it was an option on ours.
  19. Electric seat back release?? I've never even heard of that one!!
  20. Hey Leo, you said you've seen everything over the years even rare Montes. What would you consider the most special or rare one you've seen? The rarest option I've seen in a Monte is the Burled Elm radio delete panel. I would also think the headlight squirter to be a rare option although I've never seen a Monte with it.
  21. If somebody manages to "prove" a SS454 car that came with a stick, proof of a LS6 car will be soon to follow.
  22. ^exactly what I was thinking.
