  1. Oh yes... I can definitely attest to that! Even in reverse! But...not in direct (4th) going down the highway...no whining then...maybe except inside by the occupants screaming! I had listed previous links for the M22...if you want all new...go to that one site where they offer the new cases. If you want "numbers" correct...like say 1970...then you will have to dig harder to find one. Remember, though, they did not put M22's in from the factory (that we know of anyway). I have only heard of factory M20's and a VERY FEW M21's. Let me know if you need help with this scenario.
  2. Hi... I have an M22 in my 70...the car has a 12 bolt 3.73 posi. The M21 and the M22 have the same gear ratios...however, the M22 has "straighter" cut, stronger gears, thus the whirring noise in the first 3 gears. 4th gear, however, is nice and quiet, so the whirring noise does not exist in 4th gear (direct). I do not have any personal experience with the T10 and/or the Super T10, so I cannot comment on their durability. Regarding your question, I guess it would depend upon the rearend that you have or plan on having. Being that I have the 3.73 ratio, the M22 (M21 would be the same) is "acceptable" for city, streetlight, stop sign driving. If I had anything (numerically lower) than a 3.73 rearend, such as a 3.42, 3.08, etc. I would go with the M20 and/or a Super T10, as the M21/M22 would not be fun to drive in stop and go traffic. I do know that the T10's had more gear ratio options, so if you have like a 2.73, 3.08, etc. rearend, you might be better off with a T10 from a gear aspect. Recently, I see that you can now get "wide" and custom ratio M21/M22's as well...so I guess it boils down to if you like to sound "cool", and have more HP, with the M22 vs. the M21. Maybe somebody with a T10/Super T10 can chime in here and give their opinion on them. Here is a good website for the Muncies: Muncie And here is some limited info on the T10's: Super T10 I went with the M22 because I have always wanted one - I love the sound of the gears whining in the first 3 gears. I also went with the M22 because of the stronger gears. The only downside is that I am turning 3,000+ RPM above 70 MPH - but, I mostly drive the car within the city, which is extremely fun! I hope this helps you out.
  3. Jared... To answer your question... 8 Monte Carlo's at the meet... 4 1970's 1 Cranberry Red (Art) 1 White (me - Rodney) 2 SS454's Shadow Gray (Jake) Black (Vaughn) 4 1972's 1 White (Dan) 1 Medium Green (Pat) 1 Brown (Roy) 1 Lighter Green (Keith) My apologies to some of these guys...as it is hard to describe some of the colors...especially the greens. I was really hoping that Vaughn would have brought his awesome 71SS454, but he brought his 70 instead! As it turned out, no 71 cars were there. 9 FGMCC members at the meet...David Mau was at the meet, but was not able to bring his 70 SS454. So... 8 cars 9 members Somebody please chime in if I am incorrect in any way. Does anybody have the totals from the Eastern meet? I saw several pictures...and it looks like they had at least 15+ cars?
  4. Yea...all six of them...and they still did not get the webcam working properly! It was me that had to come in and save the day (night)...but by that time, most everybody was gone and not on the webcam! Maybe I should be in charge of technology next year for the Western meet?
  5. Here are individual shots of the 8 cars at the show...
  6. Let's see if I can get this done right... If this works...I will submit more...
  7. Hi all... I see that everybody is anxious to see some pictures...well...I just got home from work...and am ready to show you all...but... I have never posted pictures to this site. Could somebody give me a quick "crash" course in uploading pictures to this site? Let me know...
  8. Andreas... You bet...I will most definitely be going to as many meets as I can from now on! Going to the Western meet was awesome! I feel like I have a new family now! In all honesty...I had forgotten that it was the Eastern meet's 10th year...no worries though...it was totally worth it just to be able to attend the Western meet. I am completely amazed with being around fellow FGMC owners that love these cars as much as I do and all of the camaraderie that goes along with the love for these cars...
  9. I'm jealous... We did not get a fancy plaque at the Western meet...and there were only 8 of us there. However, we did get a nice business card size "plaque"...
  10. OK, guys and gals...I thought I would start this one out, as this is where I am at with my 71 Z20 (SS454). I am in the process of taking the body off the frame, and have the interior gutted, except for the windshield and back window. Here's my question: How do I take the windshield and back window out? I have attempted to do it a few times, but have chickened out - and now I am to the point where this is all that is left to take off the body, and I would like to get them off before I remove the body from the frame. Any suggestions for me? Thanks in advance! - Rodney
