  1. the current setup has went down twice in the since 8/22/05 so there must be a problem somewhere. but times it went down i had to reload all the software as the hard drive was wiped clean:(. you dont think that was case by have a 20 pin plug coming from the power supply to the mother board do you? should have the new stuff by tuesday.
  2. i saw a post on linux this morning talking about foxconn(marker of current motherboard) doesnt support any linux programs. i dont see a agp slot listed on the new board but maybe they over looked? and a 128mb for a video card aint much even for 3d.
  3. allan i went ahead and got the board i posted in my last reply i also got ddr2 4gb kit. i wont be able to use my current 1gb of ram as the pin count is 184 and the new board takes 240. i also got a 680w power supply. the board is a open box item some it might not have all the parts which is a down fall but ill see what is missing when it all comes in. all three items cost $320 shipped. do you think i can get away with using the 184 pin 1 gb ram in that board? as for video card i think i will run the ati card. i might be stuck with the video card im currently using as i looked closer at the ati card and its a apg card
  4. allan here is what i have in my shopping cart http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131011R it has a wireless card built in it which is a plus as it frees up a pci slot that my current wireless card is in. ive been playing with the ideal of upping my ram from the current 1gb to the max the current motherboard would let me. let me know what you think of that board.
  5. yea i know both are intel cpu based. the only thing i see for the power supply is 400w my case can take either a micro atx 9.6x9.6 or a atx 12x9.6. ok so i need to add a power supply to list. either way im going to need ram the way it looks. i did find this m2 socket board http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131011 looks pretty nice the only question is can linux be used on it?
  6. allan what do you think of this board http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128346? here is another one i found http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0293610 both are intel style boards.
  7. on the box it says pci express-graphics card-supporting 128mb. the mother board and video card came as a bonus pack, lable as a foxconn bonus pack winfast. i do have a ati card which i can use in another mother board. the ait card is radeon 9200 128mb i believe its a pci express as well. most of my computer parts come from newegg. matter of fact the whole computer was done though them. should i look for a new video card as well allan or run one of the two i have? i check the foxconn site this morning and the motherboard i have is no longer been made. allan i can change the cpu if that will help any i dont see a amd mother board that takes a 754 socket maybe im over looking it. also the power cord coming out of the power supply does not find the whole plug on the mother board.
  8. what is a good motherboard? i currently have a foxconn winfast nf4k8ab. its chipset is based on a nforced4. i was reading a post on linux where foxconn doesn't support linux only windows. the specs. of the desktop is an amd athlon 64 processor ddr400 unbuffered dimm pc3200 1gb of ram, brand new western digital 1tb harddrive, it currently has a pci 3d video card made by leadtek which is based off of a gforce 6200 card. it does have a cd-r and a dvd-r drive which will be staying.

    No more A/C

dave doesn't that look better and much cleaner?
  16. capri this should be a good question. as i have mcafee on most of my computer. i do have norton on my school laptop. any anti-virus program is betterthen none.
  17. the amer. thunder exhaust has changed since i got my they org. came with the 30 series muffler which is a 2 chamber muffler i believe. the 30 series was discounted when the super 40's came out. we have three cars each one has a different series of flowmaster on it the monte with the 30's el camino with the super 40's and the nomad which has delta flow 40's. all three cars have 2.5" exhaust from the header back. my uncle says his 56 belair is to loud and it has 50 series mufflers which are 3 chamber. best bet would be to call flowmaster and ask which muffler they think is best for your car. sound clips really dont give you a good sound as hearing the car in person.
  18. check the laws before you cut. also on how loud to go some police have a db meter so they can give you a ticket if the car is to loud. are you looking at redoing the exhaust or just more sound? if you want more sound look into the 69 exhaust option its called chamber exhaust its basicly stright pipe that has bends in it cost around $500 headers to tail pipes. if its just mufflers maybe go with the one chamber flowmaster but to let you know they are loud and you will get a ticket as its a race muffler. let me know if you would like a link to the 69 chamber exhaust.
  19. dave we don't need no a/c from the look and the plan it sounds like you are after dave go with out the heater altogether since the water pump doesn't have the hose nipple. let me know when the el camino gets back on the books.
  20. i don't misuse it unless you count throwing it across the room no im only kidding. i don't drop my laptops although they do get on my nevers when one wants to act up or a program don't want to run.
  21. i really didn't think of a plan for this laptop my home laptop has a 5 year plan which came in handy when it locked up.
  22. its a hp that i had them build my options are 1 year, 2 year, and 3 year. all three plans do the same and covers the same problems im just looking at the funds.
  23. im thinking of get a 2 year damage protection for my school laptop. what do you computer guys think right now it only has a one year deal on it.
  24. mike whats the small thing in your back window
  25. depending on how close you want to keep it org you could order a high mount package tray with a third brake light in it. then you can drill a small hole for the other speaker in the sheet metal tray. just an ideal
