  1. Thanks for the replies, fellas. This is the one from the example on this site: C GB 10 05 B E . It has 9 characters, too. I was expecting to find my last character to be a D, E or W to show the origin of the posi. I'll check for a letter below the code.
  2. My 70 SS code is CRK 121 0B1. The car has never been repainted and the bottom of the trunk lid has the remains of the positrac sticker. The diff is a posi and the code and actual ratio match at 2.56:1. I don't know why the last character is a 1. The info on this site shows it should be a letter. Can anyone help? axle decode

Looks like you're off to a great start! That car's going to be gorgeous, ripleydale. Good going Vaughn!
  4. Quote: i was offered $350,00 for my g m samples so at $175,00 thats not too bad I agree. I just bought some originals, [not from Larry]. $350.
  5. Gronlit, I don't know about the oil. I checked out your car pics and I think you're doing a great job! The plating on the compressor tank looks great. Wolfman, your car is beautiful. The pic link doesn't work for me. I'll PM you.
  6. I have a 70 and the valve on the frame looks like it has been there since the car was new, but the valve looks different than the one on this site. Can someone get me a pic of their original, and what does the linkage between the valve and the upper control arm look like? Thanks for any help, Dan. Valve on my car: FGMCC site pic:
  7. Excellent work! It's gonna be a beautiful ride.
  8. Hi Mike. We used 5 cans of #08090 and they were 19 oz. cans. It comes out stringy if you shake it well. Use 3 coats like it says on the can. Mikstudie, Thank You. Your car looks great, too.
  9. Thanks guys. We're quite a bit further along now, but not quite done. We're battling an oil leak and I haven't taken any pics lately. It's licensed and insured now and we took it to town Fri. nite and discovered it leaked bove idle. Lost 1/2 a quart in about 25 mi but I got it slowed way down today. Might have it stopped completely. I'll check it tomorrow. This is the first time I've used a 1 pc pan seal, but most of the leak was caused by a junky chrome timing cover that didn't center the seal on the harmonic balancer.
  10. Now we need help with the rear glass. Should we use a fast set urethane or should we use a ribbon seal? Do we need a primer under either of these? We repainted the car about 2 1/2 wks ago and the pinchweld is painted and clean. Please help with idiot proof instructions or a link to good site would be greatly appreciated. We sure don't want a leak. Thanks, Dan.
  11. Darrell, we must have done it right. We used the same amount of glue that you did. It came out nice and it was pretty simple. Thanks for the help.
  12. It does look great! And so does the rest of your car. Thanks for the reply. I've put on a convertible top, so I figured the vinyl can't be bad. I'm going to start it and then a friend that did them at a glass shop is going to help me finish it, if I ask him to. Your tips will help. I need to get 2 more cans of adhesive. Thanks again. Dan.
  13. Hi. I need a little help. I painted our 71 and we want to put a new vinyl top on. I used clearcoat and I'm wondering if I should lightly sand the roof before starting the install. If so, should I use a red Scotchbrite? Thanks. Dan.
  14. Capri, congratulations to you and your husband on the SS! I found 2 build sheets in our car. I looked for them about 7 or 8 yrs ago and they were under one of the seats. One was for our car and the other was for a different Monte. I took them out and since then, mice chewed up the one for our car. Leo, our 71 small block car is a Kansas City built car and it doesn't have the L.
