  1. Welcome Dave ! Nice to hear you are bringing your monte back to life We look forward to watching all your progress
  2. I think it all depends on the car. I love the 70-72 Monte's and have asked Greg to buy me one for 15 years. It didn't matter which year or model or what options it had. I just love the body style. When we ended up with mine - the thought process changed a bit - being an SS, it became important to me that it was original or that I brought it back to being as original as we could...even more so once I found the build sheet & previous owners. Sure having all these pieces of the cars history help its value but I do not plan on ever selling it nor do we ever plan to do a frame off restoration....nor would I want a car THAT MINT that I would worry about driving it & be afraid to enjoy it. I guess it is just a mind thing.
  3. I have not used my laptop for about 3 weeks - it was just sitting on the living room floor. Then this week, with the surgery, I brought it upstairs to the bedroom & have been using it - no problems. Last night, I went upstairs, got the laptop & brought it outside to the deck & used it. When it was time to come inside, I unplugged and picked it up. I hear all this JINGLING. I am like, "what is that noise????" Well, I start flipping it around trying to hear where it is coming from....I stick my finger in one of the little doors that has a flap to open it & tip the laptop....OUT POURS ALL THESE COINS!!! quarters, dimes, nickles, pennies! Greg & I were like, OMG, where did this come from & when did it happen??? So, we ask Sir Drake (the 3 year old) and he proudly tells us that he put them in there! LMAO! Who knows when he did it or how long they have been in there. Fortunately, no damage was done (I don't think) and all is working just fine. I just had to share the story. Here I was thinking, I was gonna have to call Allan to help me figure out what the strange noise was. Darn kids
  4. Great pics, Steve!! I just missed the rainbow by about 5 minutes!! It was great meeting you & your family. Your son was a sweethart taking time to play ball with the little ones so us "grown-ups" could socialize! We owe him!
  5. Go to your profile and Click in the Upload your avatar and enter the link then click the word change at the bottom and it should work..........or you can PM me with your info & I can try for you.
  6. I just went thru the award listing & added the board name - and in doing so, I realized that I did not meet "heff" and he was at the show & our dinner! Sorry, Chad! Rob - hope you don't mind my edit but I know I have a hard time knowing real names vs board names & felt that others probably did too...esp those from out of the area.
  7. And Paddock donated decals & "do not touch" cards, too. Though it was not a prize anyone could win - they did send them as their way contributing to our goody bag.
  8. As stock as we are trying to keep mine - I had to have those cowl screens on it - looked too goofy without them. And we did put the A-arm flaps on it too. Right now she is back in the garage with the hood up (sigh)..at least she had a nice weekend away.
  9. Congratulations to all!!! All award winners & non winners should feel special because there was some pretty stiff competition! All the FGMCC's were so nice & each unique in their own way. It was very hard to make choices on the best in all the categories. It was overwhelming walking from car to car - esp when there are so many!! And to hear them! Each one sounded different & incredible. (Maybe we need an award for best sounding monte??) Congrats to everyone who drove in and participated throughout the weekend - it wouldn't have been the same without YOU there!
  10. OH...I read this whole thread - guess I misunderstood when he realized it was not a Canadian built car! OOPS!! No, wait a minute - I know Jake's was Baltimore. I was responding to HEFF asking about Canada - I do not see where he found out his was built in Baltimore....
  11. aaahhh.........I see you think like I do, Kevin! Remember, things are not always as they appear. Ok, that was AL M.'s leg bent!! Looks pretty authentic doesn't it??? You should know I would never post a REAL BUTT picture on the site
  12. Robert has corrected me on the photo that shows his car - the one next to him belongs to KEN FOUTZ that is not Iceman's... Sorry!!
  13. You are so bad!! No it was not ME - rememebr I left my camera unattended.......actually the first set of photos I blamed on Jared! But then found out it was one of the Soprano's!
  14. I found this in our tech archive section: Quote: Contact GM Canada with your VIN toll-free (in Canada) 1-888-467-6853, between 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. EASTERN time. If you have a "Canadian" built car, they can tell you everything about your car that the build sheet would have provided on your specific car. I don't know about it being "free" for US cars but when I requested mine (Canadian built) they charged me $45.
  15. Jake: That is priceless!!! I KNOW how over-joyed youare and giddy it makes you feel! CONGRATULATIONS!!!! It looks awesome!!! I thought that those with Canadian built cars were at an advantage because GM Canada has all the records on their cars - you just have to call & ask & they send you everything.
  16. Yes, I loved those pics of the sunset - it was still raining, too. No guesses from anyone on who the member is in the "one" photo???
  17. There is the George Lines Best Modified Award. The speech given at the presentation always chokes me up. It went to Mark Patrone the last 2 years.
  18. Well, here is the link to view all 187 Eastern Meet Photos. I have more of the people than the cars! THE PHOTOS CLICK ON SLIDESHOW above the 1st photo to see them larger. ENJOY! Please forgive me, but there were a few pics that I could not remember the members names and a few I could not remember whose car it was. I did my best. I got some great CLASSIC photos of some of our members. I regret not getting a photo of myself with Jim Austin (Jim's 70) - if you have never met him, you cannot believe how TALL he is!! I felt like a dwarf!!! Also as mentioned previously in threads....I did step away from my camera (big mistake!!)......well, after receiving a secret message from a member via my cell phone, I found I had some unsightly photos on there .... I was so shocked I deleted the pictures (after showing Greg!)........later I found out "the rest of the story" and the original guilty party(ies) re-enacted the photo shoot for me in front of everyone during our Friday night bench racing session. (This was not a bashful group!) They are included in the 187...you WILL know which I am referring to! In the event I have a photo you wish to have a copy of, please use the link below for shutterfly to order what you want http://share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=8QauGrZszaNuU
  19. Darryl..............he spoke too soon..............wrong one. he is looking for the one for the engine compartment not under the dash..........
  20. Greg needs to see a vacuum diagram so he can hook up all these new lines......anyone have it that they can email a readable copy to me???????
  21. Thanks so much Rich! We feel very good about those numbers! I really really appreciate your help
