  1. Sounds very nice Daryl,Great job. Terry
  2. Another question, I got the heat shield today from Jegs,What is the sequence on all the pcs, there is the lrg aluminum plate,2 smaller aluminum plates and 4 gaskets ,Which is 1st to last ? There is no pics or instructions,I'm thinking you start off with a gasket against the manifold but does the lrg go next ? Thanks for any help Terry
  3. Hi Guys,Checked the primary/Secondary float levels today and they were fine,I did lower them a Smigget just for the H of it. I'll keep check on it for awhile, not too concerned until I start smelling gas .I was busy with replacing the master cyl and bleeding brakes,it has the bleeders in this one. Also replaced the temp sender unit and repair wire with new insulation with the right one from American Auto Wire. They say our Montes/chevelles takes the threaded stud with a nut/washer for the connection. It seem to be working fine. Thanks for your suggestions on the Holley.I'll still install the heat shield between the manifold and carp. They look good even if it don't help Terry
  4. Hi Bruce, This seepage/vapor only started when I replace the carb the other day,new non vented tank (70),new gas, vented cap,all new gas hoses and steel lines, new AC fuel pump ,the carb has new filters in it. I called the Holley tech today and he thinks its percolating as Todd said and to put a heat shield under it so I'm going to try that.He said it wasn't that uncommon for some to boil over and nothing to be too concerned with. I haven't checked the float level yet but will when i get under the hood again.Thanks. Terry
  5. Hi Todd,I haven't tried anything yet, just waiting on some suggestions,I just installed it a day or 2 ago and have been doing the electric choke, fast Idle ect.just noticed this this morning.I will check the float when I get back to it.I started it and let in run in the fast Idle for a short while and not up to temp,so could it still be percolating ? Would a heat shield help? thanks Terry
  6. Just installed a New out of the box 870 CFM Advenger Carb on the BB 427,It does seem to pull some better and works fine but my problem is after shutting the engine off the gas seems to be trickling in and I'm seeing the vapor still coming out of the carb for at least a moment or so. What adj will I need to do to stop this. Thanks as usual , Terry

    Windows XP

Hi Mike, Its been bad since I brought it home, like a lemon car,Even the ethernet connection on the tower was loose ,not the cable but the connection that went into the main board and when I took the cable off to check it the hole board fell inside . Took it back and he never installed the screw that held the bracket in place to support the [you said a naughty!]'y. I'll likely have to buy the new 8.1 .Thats all they have . I really like your Monte,I beleive I looked at it at Carlisle a few yrs ago if this is the one.I remember it being out in the grass. It was really sweet. Terry

What a wild ride its been with this new pc that I had custom built with windows 7 ,all new and should of been up and running .Since I brought it home last Fri,I've had the Verizon Tech here 3 times, the guy that built the pc once and on the ph several times, my Daughter was on the ph with Verizon for a total of 3 or more hrs And it still will not connect to the internet,The pc guy says its the Modem, the Verizon Tech that was here to check it all out says its the pc,the verizon tech on the ph says the modem is ok.I went and purchased a new modem because of my pc guy which won't work ,I also ordered a new one from Verizon at their suggestion. I can hook up the old XP pc and it runs fine with internet connection.I threw the towl in today after the Verizon Tech and the puter guy was on the ph trying to figure it out,I said that I had enough and returned it for a refund. Now I'm back using the XP. I needed some cool down time and will figure which way to go later.I'll keep my XP until they pry the Mouse from my cold dead fingers Terry

Well,This is the day of the demise of Windows XP,My pc won't support windows 7 or 8 so I'm forced to get a new one,I'm having one custom made with 7,don't want to go the 8 thingy, heard to many horror stories. I haven't been able to find a new one with 7 ,they are all set for 8,I should be up and running with the new one by the end of this wk. This should be a barrel of fun trying to teach an old dog new tricks Terry
  12. Looks SUPER Mike ! Very nicely done . Terry
  13. This has upset me all day, You guys are so very helpfull with our problems and quick to get us an answer so we can get our Montes done right,I can't beleive what I'm reading ! Rude at its highest! Terry
  14. Sam, Are all the short WP 's like the ones on the Gen 5 crate engines,it had 1 nipple for the moulded short by pass hose right in line with the intake nipple, and the other nipple for the heater hose was down closer to where the lower rad hose goes on,just curious Terry
  15. Check these Aaron ,They are saying ,Molded on 65-68 cars PRT # CPH-1658 . non molded and ribbed 69-72 prt# CPH-1672 www.SS396.com (Groundup company) I've heard that the molded ones was for the short water pump. My 427 crate engine had the short pump and a molded hose but I changed to long pump and a straight ribbed hose, the molded one I don't beleived would worked because of being off set. Terry
  16. I have the same issues with the tall covers on the 427 and it takes 7 qts Terry
  17. Mike's correct about finding a new 2 series unit,I tried about 3 yrs ago to get one for the stock 273's 12 bolt but he did have a rebuit 2 series so I bought it, also the side bearings/races . Quite simple to install just keep your shims /bearing caps on the side they came off.Check your axles for a wear groove at the bearing area. You may start that snowball thingy
  18. Just a quick update on these Ralley Sport Bucket seat covers. I finnaly had the opportunity to drive the Monte with the new covers /seatbuns on and just wanted to say that they are very comfortable, not too soft and spongy but sturdy and you sit "in them" "not on them" if that makes sense My butt/torso fits just right in them like they were custom made for me.I'm glad I spent the little extra for them. Just a little feedback in case someone is considering them. My Turquoise Monte has the Buckets with nylon inserts and I'll likely keep it that way when I have new covers made this fall.,I like the way they feel and look plus they were optional. Terry
  19. Thanks Davey, I have steel ones on the ZZ454 and are silent, never had to turn any of them. This is the 1st set of aluminum rockers for me . The headers will drown them out thats for sure Terry
  20. My goodness Glen ,you're lucky it didn't leave you sit. Terry
  21. You're right Mark about the cast iron manifolds,I used the GM stainless steel type gaskets also for a good seal. It really isn't that bad ,you have to be listening close ,I just have been listening for every possible sounds while breaking it in.anything is possible but it really has the sound of lifters to me . Like Mike and Sam says, its the nature of these aluminum roller rockers ect ,If it doesn't get any worse I'll be happy with it. Terry
  22. Sam,sounds like you made an honest effort to slience them,I'll do like you and just "Run the Snot" out of it and forget it OR I'll take Cory's advice and go to plan B . Thanks to all . Terry
  23. Sam,does your valve train make a light noise at mid /high rpms? I guess I'm being too cautious with the new engine.I only have about 7-800 miles on it I've been listening to see if its getting any worse but its been the same so far. I can live with it if thats the nature of the beast These 427 's are to be a copy of the 67 L88's but they were soild lifter engines and 11:1 CR, GM could be making these sound like those Terry
  24. Thanks Mike,I'd say light and scattered not to noticable if not listening for it.Gm says to run 5w30 for 500 mi change and run another 500 then go to your prefered oil.I'm on the 2nd change and should be ready by later wk end to change to the oil I'm using .VR1. Its more of a clicking hollow sound then exhaust,I can hear some sounds like valve train while under load at 4-5000. ,I had my Mechanic take it for a drive and he seems to think its valve train. You really can't hear it at 2-3000 rpm.just a med/heavy load. Terry
  25. Most of you know about 427 crate engine I put in the 70 and heard the sound clips from the chambered exhaust,I dare to say that I had to silence that loud exhaust and replaced it with a much quieter system. But my concern!, This engine has the Hyd roller cam and it also has Aluminum roller rocker arms 1.7:1. It sounds like they need to be adj down a bit because I'm hearing some light clicking at idle and also some valve train noise at around 4-5000 RPM. I'm not considering any change/adj until i get some miles on it and get the 5W30 break in oil out and the VR1 Racing oil in. Should I pull the VC's and check/ adj if needed or would this be normal with the type of rockers ect ? You would think that they would have proper clearence being all new but they could of missed 1. What would you engine guys do, A. Pull the covers and check clearences, B. Put the LOUD exhaust back on so I can't hear them Terry
