  1. I'm pretty sure you have to use the Monte pitman arm no matter the box. The other ones I've read are too long and will hit something in the linkage or frame I think.
  2. I thought about pulling the distributor but didn't want to mess that up as well. Perhaps I will next time. Did you not use the stud because it wouldn't fit our because you just couldn't get your hands in there to do it?
  3. Guess looking at the parts bag I'm supposed to use the stud to use the bracket as well. What a pain. Hardly any room to get a finger in there.
  4. Well I'm at a loss. Bought the dipstick tube, says its for a th350 aaaand its too long. Hanger doesn't line up with the bellhousing bolt.
  5. I haven't done anything yet as that project is on the backburner right now. I did purchase a used box from a 97 or 98 jeep grand Cherokee. It has a faster ratio than the stock box as well as less turns lock to lock. It's a direct drop in minus the ragjoint and some press in fittings for the box to go from metric oring style to out standard SAE flare. Cost for me is under $100 just need the ragjoint or a ujoint.
  6. The arms on my car look like the ones mounted on your car. Mine is not an SS.
  7. That TCI tube looks nice. I think I will go with that. Thanks everyone.
  8. Might have to. Beats just staring at it every time I come home. I miss when I used to only be able to afford 1 car for insurance so I was driving it as my daily driver. Got lots of thumbs up.
  9. It most definitely is coming from the dip stick tube. I can see if flowing out. It wasn't that bad before the change but because I lost the o-ring that was on it when I went to remove it I had to eyeball the replacement. Guess it was the wrong size. Was a pain getting that out last time too.
  10. I have been battling a transmission leak for over a year. Granted I'm not working on it every day but I do when I can. Replaced the oring on the speedo gear and now the dipstick tube but now its leaking like a sieve. I just cant drive this car anymore. If I have to put in 3 or more litres of fluid every time I drive it its not worth driving. I would be lucky if I've driven 100km this year. Its not the fun car I had years ago. That's sad.
  11. Ok thanks Murphy. You may now return to your regularly scheduled program.
  12. I'm going to derail for a second. What are the effects of not aligning the spring top properly? I've been having a popping sound in my suspension under hard breaking for a while that I believe stated after taking the front suspension apart years ago.
  13. Haven't been able to find the same brand plugs that I have in it so I drove it with the cleaned up ones that had been regapped to .045. Car runs much better and power has increased as well. Drove it around yesterday and today with city and highway mixed in. I will have to check the compression on the cylinders when I get a chance. Other than that all is well. On a side note while it was warming up yesterday after regapping i left the rad cap off. I noticed a lot of bubbles coming through for around 5-10 minutes then they stopped. Since then I don't seem to have the same overheating issue I had before.
  14. The harddrive may have to be reformatted before its detected by the OS? Is the drive connected directly not using a cable? I'm not a laptop person so not sure there. Check in the bios and see if the disk controller is set to AHCI. If it is change it to IDE.
  15. I read something similar on the Ngk website last night. I don't think I can fit an anti fouler behind my headers. Going to have to go with a hotter plug.
  16. I've owned the cap and wires for a few years. Bought them off a member here so not sure of the age. I'll try and do a compression test soon.
  17. K then the next question is should I go with the same heat range with the bad cylinder or go up one leaving the rest the same? I'd the rest of my plugs are black would increasing the heat range of all help burn extra fuel? I know that's not what you are saying just interested in what I can do for now. I've been tempted to switch to a set of vortec heads if I can find a good price.
  18. Honestly I have never noticed any large amount of oil consumption. Does it take a lot to foul a plug like mine or is it a rather smaller amount?
  19. That plug is the only one that was like that. All the others were just black. I have an HEI dist as well.
  20. Entirely possible. Thinking valve guides?
  21. So last weekend I got the monte out of storage. Just like the month or two before I put it in, it ran ok but was missing and running very rich. It was missing while warming up until I put it into the low idle. Today I decided to check the plugs. They are gapped to around .035 and regapped them to .045. Also cleaned them up. They were absolutely covered in soot. Black as black can be. They all also smelled heavily of gas. And no it wasn't me. Cylinder 8 plug looked like this. Thoughts? I have not changed anything on my carb which is a Qjet and still believe its running too rich. I'm either thinking about changing to a Holley 1406, or attempting to rebuild the Qjet. Not sure where to get parts for that though.
  22. I took mine out of storage. Got to admit I was pretty happy when I connected the battery, cranked for 6 seconds and with two blips of the throttle fired up right away.
  23. Lol Mark I didn't recognize you with the new avatar at first.
