  1. How will the car be used? Depending on usage, a properly picked/made converter and or a transmission cooler. Changing to synthetic fluid if your trans was recently freshned up or rebuilt. Heat is the number 1 killer of your transmission and drivetrain parts. Proper use of these parts will make car move more efficiently, run cooler and last longer.
  2. Double check your wiring. That is the most likely culprit. I believe you car was running prior to changing out the starter.
  3. A good auto parts store with a parts section called "HELP" has it. I just recently changed mine and found it there. They have a lot or small parts, clips and things that break or wear out.
  4. True, but you will look good doing it !!!!
  5. It looks awesome on paper as per your dyno numbers. I hope it performs as good if not better than you had expected. Good luck racing on Thursday. Please let us know what happens at the track.
  6. I pulled the cover off, wiped it down and went for a good ride. It was partly cloudy in the low 40's today. I saw lots of others out with their cars too. I put 40 miles on and really enjoyed every minute of it. I topped off the fuel tank and parked it back in it's own garage. I put some Sta-Bil in, dusted and covered it again. It was glad to be back in its heated garage, waiting for another nice day to go back out for a drive.
  7. Ian, here are the NAPA part numbers as you requested. I confirmed the part numbers and price thru my local store that I deal with. They are $29.99 each, not $34.99 as I had said earlier, black powdercoated and also come with a 2 years of free roadside assistance! The part numbers are SE4590 Rightl side and SE4591 Left side.
  8. Yes. I will reach out to you over the weekend. Go easy with your money on the parts. Your wife's education comes first. Just think how much faster it will go with 2 incomes for parts !!! Thanks, CK
  9. Joe, They are rebuilt in the USA. I would not use any foriegn or Chinese built parts. If you have access to the rebuild parts, tools, time and the proper knowledge or are a professional mechanic, that is absolutely the way to go. For the Monte owner who is not highly trained or does not have have all of the above, or limited time to work on their car, USA rebuilt calipers may be the way to go. CK...
  10. I am at work right now and don't have access to it. I will take a look in my reciept file or call the NAPA store I deal with and get it for you. Please give me 24-48 hours to get you the part numbers. CK...
  11. I would think twice about the time, tools and cost of materials to rebuild this low dollar, common stocking item. I just recently purchased from NAPA, 2 GM stamped, remanufactured calipers,(from an American company) black powercoated and 2 year warranty for 34.99 each. Black or silver painted finish calipers were 29.99 each. They were installed with new NAPA Gold premium brake pads, bled and road tested in under 30 minutes. My car stops super straight, and now on a dime. Unless you Monte is a 100% restoration, I don't believe it pays. Is it really worth your time and effort to rebuild ? I think it's great to try to learn something and rebuild various automotive parts, but at what cost?
  12. The Spring Carlisle (PA) swap meet will be coming up soon. That's another good place to look and pick up good used or new parts for your resto. Check out their website for the dates. Its not that far from Staten Island.
  13. Took a ride down to the beach this morning to meet and see the boys and their toys. I saw Al (and his new Dodge Ram with the Hemi) Steve, Wes, Scott, Bill, Dan, Rich, Jimmy, Glenn, It was a nice day to see the boys and take a good long ride. I am hoping for more (continued) good weather and looking forward our Sunday morning Captree gatherings.
  14. Took a ride to visit another FGMCC member, Steve Levanti. It was 55 degrees and sunny here today. What a way to start the New Year. Awesome !!!!
  15. Welcome and good luck with your new project!
  16. Good info in these articles. Thank you for sharing with us.
  17. Great, Thanks for the info. I will order one for a future restoration.
  18. Nice, Congrats on getting it together to finishing your hood project. Let us know how it comes out. Progress !!!
  19. Welcome !! Nice find. Another one stays alive.
  20. Mike and Sam, With the 75W/140 gear oil, is an additive needed for the posi unit, or does this weight/ oil formulation cover it? I have seen it in both synthetic and non synthetic grades. I am used to using 80W/90 with an additive for the posi clutches. Just FMI.
  21. Excellent. When you put additional weight in the Monte, it will not sag due to these springs. It is comfortable and still retains the proper height. I have installed them and are very happy with them.
  22. Pypes stainless steel Street Pro mufflers on a 2 1/2 inch manifold to rear bumper stainless exhaust system. Check out the Pypes website to listen to their complete muffler and exhaust system line.
  23. Paul, Sorry to hear of your father in law passing. My condolences to you and your family. I'm glad your car is running well and you and your son are enjoying drag racing.
  24. I have seen one on a modified 90's Suburban frame and drivetrain. It had a fuel injected 454 ci engine and a 4spd auto transmission.
