  1. When your pressing the c-clip eliminators onto your axles how far do you press them on. The Strange directions say "till they seat" does this mean as far as they will go. I just don't want to press them on too far and end up having the outside edge of the brake shoes rubbing on the inside of the brake drums.
  2. Great to hear that your making progress. The suspense about your ET's is killing me though.
  3. I wish mine would do that. Sounds realy good Winston!!!
  4. Gotta love Caddyshack and Rodney!!!!
  5. I hear ya Bill my 12 second Monte seems slower all the time. Thanks guys.....
  6. Sounds like you had a good tme. Davey, did you check out the wrinkle on your rear tires in that one picture...looks like some torque there!!!!
  7. I'm in the middle of putting c-clip eliminators on my car right now. I was looking at the same thing thinking that maybe I could press the bearings a little further towards the flange then it would make the rear end a little narrower. The only problem is like Bob said the brake backing plate is still in the stock location only the brake drum and axle flange would move in. I think that the brake shoes would bottom out in the drums if you tried to do that too much.
  8. Andy, That 11:03 nos run...nice. Crazy D. that wagon is cool, you gotta love those sleepers. A lot of our cars on this board seem to fall into that category.
  9. I just got to thinking. I think that my vacuum for my brakes comes from the one on the back bottom of the carb itself. The one that comes off the intake is the trans line. I guess that you might be able to run a T and hook them both together into one.
  10. Winston, Does your car still have power brakes? If it does were do you run the vacuum line to with this intake? These intakes don't have the boss to put a fitting into for vacuum lines. Is it possible to run a carb spacer and tap a hole in the spacer to screw a fitting into? Just wondered how you can do it.
  11. Looks like you got a great deal. Hopefully this will be the the ticket to that 11.50 time slip that your after.
  12. Hopefully you find that it's something easy and cheap to fix.
  13. I guess the first thing that I would do is pull the valve coves off and take a look to see if everything looks good and there are no loose rockers or spring problems. Seems like a good starting spot.
  14. Winston, You should get a award for resilence after all you went thru this year.
  15. My brother had a "street/strip" car with a 5 gal. fuel cell. He had to take it on a trailer and unload it on the outskirts of town to go to a car show that was any distance from his house. I guess at that point it's a street driven race car?????
  16. Davey, Looking at how clean and nice your trunk area is I think that you should get a polished nitrous bottle to match your fuel cell.
  17. Sumped tank club.... I like it
  18. Thanks for the complement David. That picture was taken by my father in law at the Gilmore car museum near my house. The VFN hood that I have didn't need to be cut at all for it to fit. Maybe they made some improvements to them over the years.I really liked the pictures of the hood that Bill got for his car, that one looks like a good one.
  19. Winston, Mine is a VFN Fiberglass, 4" cowl, bolt on hood.
  20. Yeah, the more I think about it the more I think that I'll probably leave it as is. It would drop the RPM at 60mph about 300 RPM but I have a lot of other areas of the car that I want to put some money into ( like that converter) and there is only so much to go around. Thanks for the info.
  21. Hey David, The idea of the 3.73's are for Dragweek to try and make the drive a little easier but I talked to a guy this year at the finals that did it with 4.10's and the same size tires, might just take a little longer,ha ha.I would love to get that Coan converter still if I can swing it. Keeping my fingers crossed!!!
  22. I'm kind off kicking around the idea of changing my rear end gears while I have the thing apart. Currently I have 4.10 gears but am thinking about switching to 3.73's to make the car more streetable. Any guesses on how much my 1/4 mile times would change going from 4.10's to 3.73's? Has anyone heared anything bad about the 3.73 gears made for the series 4 carriers?
