  1. According to my calculator you should be at 450 HP with your combo. That's pretty sweet !!!
  2. While we are on the subject of weight anyone know how much a fiberglass hood will save ?
  3. 3700 lbs is not with me in it or my 50lbs of stuff in the trunk. My car is a iron headed small block with all the AC in place. with me and my junk the scales were an even 4000lbs The scales round up to the closest 50lbs so give or take a bit. But cool seeing what everybody else had. Thanks for the reply's
  4. I weighed mine the other day and she was at 3700lbs
  5. Yeah that's it !!! Thanks for posting the link Mike
  6. change to a lighter spring in the vacuum pod on the carb. That will open it faster
  7. Anybody have any data as to how much there MPG increased with the overdrive ?
  8. 95% of the time the drive shaft breaks at the starting line
  9. Cause he doesn't want to ruin it ?
  10. To me the problem with welding it in is if you ever had an accident and the shaft break it could mess up or mangle the loop. Then you would have to CUT the old one off to get a new one on. Second, I know when a shaft breaks it can mess up a lot of things but it's not a repetitive force. It's one BIG impact I would rather it pull the bolts threw the floor than rip and or mangle a big spot of floor pan that would need replaced. If it pulls the bolts out it would be easier to fix than if it rips where the welds are at the floor pan (or braces)
  11. I've done a quick search but haven't found a thread on this board with E.T. and combination info from you guys (Monte Carlo's)that frequent the track. And I'd love to hear what you guys have and your times. Maybe even one thread that you tell what changes you have made and what E.T difference you got from it. Just a thought
  12. I'll take some pics when I start reassembling it. With all the pieces scattered across my garage it's not real pretty (so the wife tells me) She also wants me to get the hood off the family room floor LOL !!!
  13. Thanks for the reply's guys. I have used Duplicolor paint and primer on everything. Low gloss on the firewall and radiator support because it just lays the best. And a different color of low gloss black that's suppose to be used for plastic on the radiator shroud and plastic inner fenders. I bead blasted the brackets, pulleys hood hinges and latch assembly put them in the oven for a bit and hung em up then primered and painted them semi gloss and WOW. They look brand new almost powder coated even. Since my car is black I wanted some sort of contrasting colors. I painted the steering box cast iron the steering shaft a gun metal gray and I think the hood latch assembly and hood hinges in silver just for something different. What do you guys think on the silver ? My headers will be back next week from being ceramic coated silver. I'm very happy with how its turned out so far just very time consuming cleaning and painting every freakin' bolt. I can't wait to start assembling the new motor And GO CRUISING !!!!
  14. Anyone know off the top of there head what colors to paint what in the engine compartment ? Firewall, brackets, pulleys, everything. Thanks
  15. SWEET !!! What class you run that in ? And whats the cool Monte in the picture run ?
  16. It's ran a 8.73 at 157mph on a easy 1.36 60ft. on radials. (the car weighs 3350lbs)I've been a 1.31 '60 on a 295 radial. I've broken the 12 bolt once and being laid off work I don't really want to break it again. I'd like to get my Fab 9 housing in it to be able to pour some more steam to her but I really can't afford the 5K it will cost me to finish the rear end. So for the time being I'm happy cruising in the Monte
  17. You make it sound as if no one runs a motor designed for the intent purpose of running NOS. In heads up racing you have to run a power adder. It just so happens Nitrous is the cheapest one. I've been running it for 15 years and nothing has went BOOM. Some say maybe I'm not trying hard enough LOL. But I know I can only get one pass in the 1/4 on a bottle if I try to run it again it will run out by the 1000ft mark. So I'd say it's getting sprayed fairly heavy
  18. We have ran more than a 250 shot on forged pistons, stock crank and rods and be reliable, but the tune up has to be right. On my race team we use Cold Fusion Nitrous stuff. They are very affordable and knowledgeable. I haven't ever tried it but I've been told if you run the automotive grade Nitrous threw water it will get the sulfur out. Also most race stuff or street cars only run one pump and fuel line to the front. We also run the push lock fuel lines for there cost, reliability, and ease of use.
  19. Thanks for all the reply's !!!! I just finished up swapping out the 10 bolt for the 12 bolt adding a posi and 3.31's. After lot's of reading I went with stock upper bushings and put the poly ones in the bottom CA's that have been boxed in. I also added the BMR sway bar and control arm braces.I re-did all the brakes even the master cylinder and booster. Hopefully the 383 will be ready for assembly next week
  20. Yes the 400 kickdown is electronic. It's just a fun cruiser. I am building a 383 for it now with a 400 HP goal. But down the road I'd like to put a pump gas 502 or 540 in it with the hopes of making 500 HP
  21. I want some opinions here. Im pulling out the 350 motor and trans. Should I rebuild the Th350 which looks to have been rebuilt in '02 ? I'm thinking less than 10k miles ago. Just put a shift kit in it or.... install the TCI Th400 I already own and is fresh. Either way I want to keep a kick down hooked up to it. What are your thoughts ? Thanks
