  1. my facts are good , spent 20 plus years as a quality engineer , quality manager , director of quality , and lab supervisor ,re read post and my points and conversation stand , no personnel insult directed toward you now or ever , hate the internet and its lack of ability to properly communicate , back to the phone and human contact i prefer it thankyou Leo
  2. hey Mo i did not know Tiawan was a third world nation , i have seen better quality every day from overseas suppliers , gm ford chrysler honda toyota have all had major recalls and quality issues , i worked in quality for 20 plus years humans are mistake driven creatures and quality is also cost driven billet hinges several hundred dollars , repo hinges 39.95 i have and will work with all my aftermarket suppliers to improve quality as cost and customer satisfaction is key to any business last time i checked Tiawan has a booming free democratic society they left communist china in i believe 1948 and have fought and struggled to remain free is not their freedom and freedom of like countries what our troops soldiers and all of us in this country have died and lost loved ones for ???? third world evil Leo ps start a stamping company in the usa and i will call and place orders for hinges tomorrow
  3. the part pictured is available as well as the full panel , we carry both , the one pictured does not have the side panels , the full version has side panels and rear seat section Leo koniksklassiks.com
  4. actually the customer was much more involved and had many more choices , i prefer the wild west over what we have today buy what we build or worse yet buy what we tell you to buy and eat what we tell you to eat auto mentality just try to buy a real work truck today back in the 7dz you had much more choice right or wrong Leo
  5. yes Sam , your 1970 had the 69 Impala cloth style seats it is a sort of paisly pattern on bench seats only not buckets , yes Paul i have seen a couple 1970 Montes with factory drum brakes , i had one of the few 1972 montes here with 3 speed manual column shift , still have the column most of the car is long gone it was real RUFF when i brought it to the retirement home some very early 1970 montes had only one front body mount same as the chevelle seen 3 built this way all built in 1969 any smog equipment is very rare Leo
  6. there are a few i can think of 3 speed column shift cars power bucket release power buckets and power bench fairly rare never seen headlight squirters installed have seen pieces fiber optic stuff radio delete powerglide 2 speed cars front drum brake cars 1970 montes with 69 impala seat fabric factory installed bench only pontiac and olds rearend factory installed ( had a 1970 ss 12 bolt posi pontiac highway miser rear end 2:56 ratio ) i am sure i could come up with a few more , i have seen some very strange things over the years parting cars out i have a huge can of coins i have been collecting from parts cars for over 30 years weird stuff in there and pictures from parts cars that would make Larry Flint blush Leo
  7. i have been collecting , restoring and salvaging parts for first gen Monte Carlos for 37 years , i was buying wrecked Montes in the mid to late 70's when i was just a young man , we have had every versions here at the shop every single rare Monte has been here , we have seen them all ,when i started buying parts cars i drove them home for 25-50 bucks , never have i ever ever unearthed even a glimpse of a 70 or 71 ss 454 manual car , no parts no pieces no motors no transmissions , i really think they would have surfaced by now , at least a hint of one , i have heard all the stories , the only one that i believe was a dealer installed a 4 speed in a 71 at the dealership ( not factory ) very easy dealer conversion that is the only story that panned out my 10 buck worth Leo
  8. looks just like non power with a solenoid attached Leo
  9. 1969 Monte Carlo would be a late 69 build date , early 1970 Monte Carlo would be 000010 etc early 1970 , so a late 1969 would be prior to an early 1970 , very few Montes built in 69 , the one i sold supercoupe was a 1969 car it had only 1 front body mount on the firewall just like the 69 chevelle , all Montes were sold as 1970 model year as an early 1969 release which was unusual for gm to do ps sorry for quick post my father in law is very sick heart issues gotta go Leo
  10. actually the chrome process is much better on current repo bumpers , i have sold and used them for quite some time with no issues , the aftermarket parts are stepping up quality every day , from customer feed back to dealers like us that actually use and install the parts we sell ,i have handled hundreds of NOS , reconditioned - replated and used parts , there are good and bad to them all NOS does not mean perfect fit or show quality , there are also several suppliers in Tiawan and the USA , so quality of plating and fit and finish will vary , you could easily spend a bankers wallet on a perfect resto ,you have to weigh the good and bad on all parts , but i will say i am more impressed everyday at the quality of the reproduction parts Leo
  11. you guys need to learn to believe me J/K, 10 years ago easily i stated no build sheets in flint cars , i have parted out several hundred chevys and not one build sheet , protecto plates YES YES YES , i have found a couple broadcact sheets in the seats in flint cars that would indicate some options like buckets console and int color thats it , i just picked up a Flint 1970 Monte build sequence 000010 , and have a 1970 SS 454 built in Flint we have owned for 25 years purchased from the all time guru of first gen Montes Ralph Wyatt ( R.I.P. ) Monte aka Leo
  12. we are currently finishing another hood minus the functional under skeleton , still has the flapper door but we did not add the air cleaner seal area , lots of hard work no matter what approach you take , i will post some pictures of my 72 someday with the 71 Torino hood scoop 1 of 1 , not my idea i have to give credit to a friend who originally had it on his car , we painted it a couple years ago and put it on my 72 cool stuff , looks really mean , see if i can get a picture up here Leo
  13. i have seen several , all on 1972 customs , legit factory installed and correct Leo
  14. we ( KONIKS KLASSIKS ) are an AMD authorized dealer, i have discussed several patch panels and or full replacement panels for the 70-72 Monte carlo , like Tony said supply and demand , there may be something in the future , they are still working on a full line of their own tooled Chevelle parts ,many suppliers share tooling and tooling cost and product lines , the risk to produce a tool and not be able to cover your cost is monumental Leo
  15. check with me , possible 20 Leo
  16. we have several of each year in stock , we also offer them ready to bolt in media blasted and epoxy sealed and top coated in satin or gloss black , the Chevelle is not the same Leo koniksklassiks.com 810-334-4162
  17. give us a call we stock them koniksklassiks.com 810-334-4162 there is only one manufacturer for the rear bumper so it is simply price and choice of your favorite supplier , they have improved fit and plating Leo
  18. the best method to reproduce a part is to digatize / cmm scan the part , i have original ss strip that i could scan and supply a math data file to a mold maker that is the true way to reproduce a part , first place to start if you really want to sell these is with gm liscensing , second with a good lawyer and third with a good tool maker and production source , i would consider it a huge task to reproduce this part , finding the current mold would be best if it has not been destroyed , also what price could you reproduce these for a very limited market , a cnc machined aluminum look alike piece would be feasable but not original rubber but you could get around the gm lawyers MAYBE lEO
  19. Rob and Family , godspeed your recovery the Konik Family
  20. they are not exactly like the fender bolts they are flat tipped not pointed and have a small notch in the thread to self tap into the rear end housing Leo
  21. i have a least 50 sets of halo trim , some mint Leo
  22. actually the differance is designed , your angle of your driveshaft cannot be straight or it would bind the differance side to side is that way on most all vehicles , we built a 1970 z28 and replaced the entire rear body with new sheetmetal we spent days measuring prior to final weld luckily we were able to obtain an orignal body print it was designed to be off 1/2 inch by design , mopar offset their motors 1 in in the front to accomplish the same result , when you run stock tire there is no problem , try to stuff fatties under your car then you find the differance Leo
  23. 299.95 same kit just give me a call or email Leo koniksklassiks.com 810-334-4162
  24. a very few early 1970 monte carlos came with 1 front body mount , the same as all chevelles , check the build date on the 2 cars you have and the one with 2 mounts will be a very early build car , remember the monte actually came out in 1969 , i have only seen a couple montes with 1 front mount but they did exist Leo
  25. a would agree at least 1500 i have never had a hard time finding real ones , lots of bench non optioned cars also , i have even found 30-40 of the 147 built in canada and own 2 from canada and sold 2 others , i have Never went to look at a 71ss and found it to be a fake or tribute car unless the owner stated so ,as far as fake cars it would take more money and time to fake one than it would be worth , simply putting emblems on a rocker would never fool an educated buyer and most if not all buyers looking for a 71ss are extremly educated in what they are after Leo
