  1. Another member pointed out that 1/2" pick up as well. That is a nice piece. When I hit the track next Friday I am going to try bumping up the timing a little from the 31 degrees total that it is at now and go from there. I am doing exactly as you say in that I am going to tweak what I have and go from there. Thanks for the input Mike.
  2. The quick fuel is different then the holley in that it actually flows 950 cfm. Thanks for the input Sam.
  3. We did not have time to swap out to a larger line so I still have the 3/8. I wanted to see what difference it made with just the pump. I had a 72 gph carter and put in the 150 gph holley. The carb is a 950cfm Quick fuel.
  4. It has 10.5 to 1 compression and 93 octane pump gas. It also has aluminum heads.
  5. Well, I put a Holley Billet Fuel Pump rated at 150 gph in the Monte and I did not pick up any mph. I decided to pull the hoses off my ram air on the low profile spectre air cleaner. I picked up 1.5 mph. I took the air cleaner off and I picked up 4 mph. I guess the air cleaner is not flowing enough air. I ran a 11.48 at 120.8 mph with a 1.69 sixty foot. I also found out I am at 31 degrees total timing. Next trip out, I am going to bump up the timing a couple of degrees and see what happens. I LOVE Florida!
  6. Well, I am flowing 1 quart of gas in 20 seconds, not 1 gallon as I was told was needed. More fuel it wants......then more fuel it gets.....The upgrades continue.....
  7. It sure is a lot easier to have a track I can drive too in under an hour and test things out. I would like to get the bugs worked out so I can do the same with ATCO. I want to drive the car there and drive it home. I have AAA with 200 mile towing just in case!
  8. As much as I would like too, I just can't abuse it like that. I really, really, really do want to though...... I was told by Vinny Budano over at Shafiroff's shop that I need to flow 1 gallon in 20 seconds. I am heading over to the local dude down here (Glen and Roger @ Spanish River Auto)to fix it's ills. Check out this you tube clip of Roger from last week. He is the current president of the "No Lift" club!
  9. That is going to look great on the car. Nice touch!
  10. I think the FGMCC community has ruled......MORE FUEL!....... thanks Mike!
  11. Thanks for the link. That is a cool set up. I will def get it.
  12. I did the same with my Subaru as far as overkill. 465 lph pump and 200 lb injectors for E85. I think you are spot on with the problem now that I am pondering the thought! Thanks for the input.
  13. 3/8 fuel line........hmmmmm......fuel pressure gauge would be handy about now. Kinda makes sense now that you mention it.
  14. This is a scary track. They are letting cars leave while the last pair of cars have not hit the return road yet. So far, my hubcaps have not come off.
  15. The looks from people in the staging lanes is PRICELESS! The double 1/4" white walls on the drag radials with the hubcaps makes the car.
  16. Thanks guys! The car does not go over 180 degrees. I think it is a problem with the fuel being too hot. Good idea with the fuel pressure gauge. I have an electric pump and I always fill the tank before I hit the track. The motor is a 582 backed by a TKO 600. I have a 9" with a 3.70 gear. The tires are 325/50-15. I know the car would be faster with an automatic but the stick is so much fun!
  17. First pass, it was starving for fuel. I guess I should have let it cool down after the hour and a half of bumper to bumper traffic. I am still working on the launch. I did manage a 1.78 60 foot. I went a 12.11 at 113. Second pass was even worse as it totally flattened out and I aborted the pass. I let it cool for an hour and ran 1 last time. I had a 1.81 60' with a bit of wheel hop. I stayed in it because there was a late model Boss 302 Mustang in the next lane. I ran a 12.06 at 116.83 so I loaded everyone back in the car and drove home. All in all......I had a blast and beat the Stang! I could put some exhaust cut outs in maybe shave a tenth or two but I just don't know if it is worth the effort. Next time I hit the track I am bringing a cooler with some bags of ice to cool the intake. I am also going to add a line lock as I need to get a little more heat in the Nitto 555R's.
  18. It sure is rough Tony. I feel your pain.
  19. I am having a blast! With the track being so far away from my home up north, this is a pleasure. I was never really a big track guy, but it is sure fun to rip through the gears at 100 plus mph legally. I am pleased with the TKO 600 that replaced the TKO 500 that was in the car with the old setup. The trans shifted good on the 2nd to 3rd gear shift which is a known problem. I also put quieter mufflers as the flow masters were killing me. I now have the walker super turbos with the 3" exhaust that has been on the car for a while. I am not sure how helpful the cut outs would be, but it is 582 cubes now.
  20. Well, it wasn't today, but it was a week or so ago. I am hanging in south Florida and had my Monte shipped down so I can cruise in it. I could get used to this lifestyle. I drove to the drag strip in West Palm and had a blast. My buddy Rapid Rick doesn't get out of work till after 6, so we had a late start. Since I forgot my helmet back in New York, I borrowed one from Rick. Since everyone in Florida does like 90 MPH, I blended right in. The 50 mile drive to the track is a breeze when you are cruising at 85 MPH in the HOV lane. I breezed through tech and it was into the staging lanes to hurry up and wait. They did not even make me take off my hub caps. I had no idea how the Nitto 555R's would work so I did a second gear burn out after I rolled through the water. I did a little dry hop and it seemed to have some bite. Did I mention that the helmet was ENORMOUS..... Picture Rick Moranis in Space Balls. The flip up shield was not the best so seeing the gauges at night was near impossible. Okay.....back to that first pass. I came out around 3 grand and it bogged with a 1.81 60 foot time. I ran a 12.07 at 116 and change. I have NO idea what I shifted at as I could not see the needle on the tach. My motor is all in at 5800 and the rev limiter is set at 6 grand so I know I shifted lower than that. An hour later I came out at closer to 4 grand and although it did hook initially, it blew the tires off and I pedaled it to a 12.09 at 116.7 with a 1.91 60 foot. At that point, since it was after 10 pm, I called it a night and cruised on back home. All in all, I was happy. I also ran into one of the guys from back in the day who now lives in South Florida. What a blast reliving the good old days of the street racing hustle of the original Mom's Car. I am headed back to the track next Friday and Rick is insisting that I take the 100 lbs of crap out of my trunk. I am bringing my own helmet this time!
  21. I drove my Monte onto a car hauler to ship it to Boca Raton.
