  1. If it is a hot lead, it is half of the connector/fuse holder for the hood light.
  2. What year do you need? I may have something. ------------------ 70 Monte, 454, auto. 70 Monte, 454+.030, 4speed.71 Monte, 350 beater. 71 Monte SS 454. 65 Corvette coupe 365hp.
  3. FYI, the resistor for the air conditioned systems is under the hood, on the evaporator case, on the left front. It has 4 wires.
  4. Best of 11.80 at 114.12 in the 400 turbo car. The 4 speed car went 12.79 through the mufflers on hoosier quick times. The 71 SS went 13.87 at 99+ rolling in of the street. The Corvette went 14.42 bone stock taking it fairly easy. ------------------ 70 Monte, 454, auto. 70 Monte, 454+.030, 4speed.71 Monte, 350 beater. 71 Monte SS 454. 65 Corvette coupe 365hp.

    intake manifold

Corvette engines came with aluminium intakes. the LS5 came with a Q-Jet intake, and the LS6 came with a Holley intake. At least in 1971.
  6. The one with the deep bends goes in the back. It should be the longest. There is a thin one that clips into the plastic pieces that hold the dome light wires. I believe the lengths increase from front to rear.
  7. The M22 should be a clean swap for an M21. I don't recall any difference between them. ------------------ 70 Monte, 454, auto. 70 Monte, 454+.030, 4speed.71 Monte, 350 beater. 71 Monte SS 454. 65 Corvette coupe 365hp.
  8. The dipstick and tube are unpainted, called 'Natural'.
  9. Clock, the 2 prong device on the evaporator case is a low temperature ambient switch. It prevents compressor operation below a certain temp. No longer needed.
  10. Clock, did you install the non AC components under the dash also? The AC cars mounted the resistor for the lower fan speeds on the evaporator case, under the hood, and the non AC is under the dash in the heater core case. The relay under the hood is only for high speed. In fact, everything is different bvetween AC and non AC, from the dash control, which uses cables and not vacuum, to the wiring, to the cases. Even the firewall is holed differently. If you have a build sheet, look for code Z14, A/C body conversion. If you have this then your harness will contain the non AC wiring, which uses an orange wire for power the blower and no fan relay.
  11. The condenser hooks to the purple (hot) lead, and then to the motor spade that is mounted in a rubber grommet. The black (ground), mounts to the spade bolted to the flat mounting area of the motor. ------------------ 70 Monte, 454, auto. 70 Monte, 454+.030, 4speed.71 Monte, 350 beater. 71 Monte SS 454. 65 Corvette coupe 365hp.
  12. Be advised, the high and low pressure AC hoses are unique to the monte, due to the long front end.
  13. The 71 monte used a "combination emission control system" for high gear deceleration and vacuum advance delay until high gear in automatics and 3rd and 4th in manual trans. It used a solenoid mounted on the driver's front of the carb. This solenoid had 2 vacuum lines on the back and a plunger that set the throttle. A vacuum hose comes off the front of the carb next to the solenoid, and goes to the solenoid. Then from the solenoid to the distributor. Using this setup, the dist will not get vacuum in park, neutral, first, or second. This is done to lower emissions. If you have a ported vacuum connection on the carb, (one that only gets vacuum when you oper the throttle slightly: not likely if your carb is original), I would hook directly from that to the distributor. That will give you better light throttle response. ------------------ 70 Monte, 454, auto. 70 Monte, 454+.030, 4speed.71 Monte, 350 beater. 71 Monte SS 454. 65 Corvette coupe 365hp.
