  1. Around here seafoam is $9.95 a bottle. O'Rielly auto parts has it on sale about every other month for $7.95. I usually put a can in my 72 about every third tank full of petrol and now that is is basically stored for the winter it got a dose before storage.
  2. The SEM products are from a rattle can. The POR15 products come brush able and flow out very well. I used POR15 on my frame when I had the motor out in Dec and sprayed the SEM trim black right over it.
  3. I used SEM part number 39143 trim black on my firewall and other parts under the hood. I like it real well and it was easy to spray. My only problem was the previous owner used an enamel paint and the SEM is lacquer based. I had to take lacquer thinner and wipe all of that enamel off to get the Trim black to not have a wrinkley affect.
  4. I don't think a crate motor would hurt the value. To me it might increase slightly because it would be a new engine with a warranty. Although there are many who want Matching numbers on everything. Building up the motor you have would should not affect the value IMHO.
  5. On bare metal an etch primer is the best. It bites into the metal and makes adhesion of all toppers last longer. Epoxy primer is really good if the vehicle will be exposed to any kind of weather or going to sit a long time before finishing. Bondo can be applied over the etch primer with no problems that we have found at the automotive paint store.
  6. There is a place some where south of INDY that redoes bumpers like ours for $350. do not know the name of the place but I have seen some of his work and it really looks good.
  7. So how did you get the old paint off? I am looking to redo mine next winter and a customer at the paint store where I work suggested getting it soda blasted. He told me that soda will take off the paint but not hurt the glass or chrome.
  8. I have a 700R4 in my 72. I am really pleased with it but I need to have a local tranny guru do a little fine tuning for me. It does hit second gear pretty hard when you get on it. It will bark the tires when it shifts. Gas mileage on the highway with the 3:73 pos is around 20MPG running 70mph.
  9. Do any of the parts stores in your area have one of those loan a tool programs. You rent the tool for the selling price and when returned you get a full refund. I have used them her in Central Indiana many many times over the years.
  10. My Monte has BFG TA Radials 235 60R15's om it. They look really good IMHO.

  12. Where do dem wood screws go on the Monte LOL LOL LOL
  13. I remember now that I have seen a few screwed on. TY for joggin my memory.
  14. I cannot remember if our Montes have the four way flashers. I need to uncover mine and check it out later today. If it does then there are two flashers and maybe you replaced the wrong one.
  15. Are the moldings glue or pop riveted on. If pop riveted and have three pcs to each section(front tapered end, middle and other end with the last molding having the taper at the other end) they could be from a line called Trim Line who also did graphics. Very good quality moldings but I never cared for them drilling holes n my car. Glue on might be found at a parts or automotive paint store.
  16. When I worked in a bock shop back in the 70's all I remember is the dum dum stuff also. I can not remember what my 70 had on it when they had to re manufacture my quarter after I got hit. A new quarter could not be found at the time and it took the guy 2 weeks to remake the quarter. When he was done you could not tell that it had been wrecked. Inside and out looked factory.
  17. I had that problem when I pulled my HEI. Took me 3 tries to get it where it needed to be. At least I could stand in front with the shroud out to make the reinstall easier.
  18. That is a very cool hood support. Looks a lot nicer than one of those push up rod thingys.
  19. Got the 72 out and a bottle of Sea Foam and $62 worth of gas and she is gassed for what ever may come. Took a drive and stopped by KFC got a bucket of chicken then went out to the nursing home where I met up with my Bros. Mike and Andy and had lunch with our parents. Great day in the morning we had a good time.
  20. Picked up some replacement parts for my 72 from Mikes70. AC compressor, quarter windows and inner fenders. So it is really starting to come together.
  21. Drove my 72 to work today, really felt good to drive it again. Also my baby brother is in for a visit and took him for a ride, he really enjoyed it and asked me if it was like the white one I used to have. Told him my 70 was forest green, he does not remember it. LOL LOL
  22. I got the hood put on mine and took it for a short ride. Still need to adjust he TV cable for the tranny
  23. If Dupont does not have a formula a Dupont Authorized dealer can call the lab and they will get something real close. Another option if the Dupont dealer has a Chromavision or an Acquire camera/spectrograph they can make the color but you need a real good sample to start that process. A piece the size of a business card or larger works the best. If it is faded you will not get a match to the color you want. The voice of experience is speaking about this part of the equation.
  24. I had a problem about 3 weeks ago getting onto this site. Finally did a Google search got on site and deleted my old bookmark and remarked the new search and it has worked since. This happened to me on another site I visit 3 months ago and had to do the same thing.
  25. The bolts on my hood latch are the same size & thread (5/16" x 18 tpi if my memory serves me well enough to remember these technical things) as my bolts for the fender to the core support. However the fender bolts have six point heads while the hood latch bolts are 12 point heads. All six of the bolts associated with the hood latch are the same.
