  1. Nice to finally meet you in person! Jealous of your fully loaded 72 Custom now
  2. I don't know why, but I love that Sears Alternator. Awesome to have it running :D! Looks like it has a lot of options
  3. the Sun was out today! Lots of wine to be "sampled" too
  4. Finally I was accompanied by another Monte at a car show! I always feel so lonely
  5. The more I drive er, the happier Monte seems to be. I'm glad to have another old Chevy to distract me from the long days of BS.
  6. Installed a 3.5mm aux in on my Factory AM 8track! Since I couldn't get stations in AM around here anymore I decided to take the output wiring and wire an aux jack. 8 track still works but AM now just gets sound from the aux jack. All it takes is a couple wires and a good soldering iron
  7. I have this up on the Facebook as well, but offer stands here too. I rented the two bedroom chalet, the girlfriend and I only need the one bed. If anyone else is needing accommodation. I have the other bedroom and maybe the hide-abed if someone is in a pinch! Now the other hard decision, which Monte to bring???
  8. Slowly getting things sorted out! I changed the vacuum lines and low and behold the load level compressor is working! You can put your finger on the air inlet and she's pulling Air! How do I check for air pressure on these compressors? No air at the shocks yet, I think there is a melted line somewhere. I had these old wire wheels kicking around, they are rough around the edges but I think they suit the car 😊
  9. https://www.napacanada.com/en/p/TSN101521BLV Napa managed to track this down for me today 😀. It's in Ontario, so should have it by the end of next week.
  10. Last night I changed the rear brake lines on the axle and new wheel cylinders. Spent a while trying to get everything bled (look at my clever power seat bleed tool 😏) I can get fluid to all four corners, but pedal still goes to the floor, I would push the brakes slowly and all I see is fluid squirting from the rear chamber to the front, I can hear the brakes operating in the rear, but the pedal just dives to the floor no matter what
  11. Going through brakes on this ole 71ss, changing lines and such out, got the weak points out, and now the master cylinder is bypassing from one reservoir to the other (not surprising it's been sitting for so long...) I may have to run a repop for the time being, unless someone can tell me where to get the rebuild kit for my current master cylinder? It has the nipples on the side and is the rectangular style Also, once I get it all fixed, what's the correct finish? Just use some cast paint? Or is it supposed to be black??
  12. Here's the first day it has been on the road since May of 1990! Almost 30 years. I did change the rad hoses, and belts and some wiring. But in the past 2 days: The rear brake lines have catastrophically failed, the thermostat was stuck open, finally opened up,one of the heater hoses split, started spraying coolant everywhere an impromptu rainstorm, dried up wipers weren't a good mix and the tires are egg shaped, but it HAULLSSSS ASSSS! HEHE!
  13. Some much needed maintenance... Coolant isn't supposed to be brown 🤢. Plus these 30 year old hoses and belts can't be trusted
  14. I actually went and checked in the parts doors under my patio to just make sure it wasn't the car! Not it 😐. Well hopefully it resurfaces
  15. I was confused myself. I figured the RPO description was just copied wrong. The Monte's would have never come with the chrome valve covers and chrome air cleaner.
  16. Got the ole 71 SS cleaned up as best as I could over this long weekend. Brakes are good, lights all work. Now just get the paperwork signed over so I can drive the crusty beast
  17. The only Monte out of 250+ cars today, if you ever have the opportunity to cruise this part of British Columbia, never hesitate to do it!
  18. I still have the original registration for the car. If I can get some signed transfer papers from the original owner (if he's still alive!) It should make thing a lot simpler. Just wasn't sure if the registration was already transferred into Vaughn's name or not
  19. Did some polishing to the faded blue paint, new plug wires and fixed all the burned out lights, this ole faded beast wants to be on the road. Everything I touch has been an easy fix.
  20. Vaughn shoot me a message. I need your phone number. Gotta get the paperwork sorted out so I can get it in my name! This ole blue beast is itching to be back on the road
  21. Loaded with lots of cool options too. Most of which I have gotten working again after sitting all these years. The last time it was insured and on the road was 1990
  22. A lot of cleaning, shampooed the rug, armour-alled the vinyl, even got some soap and water in the trunk. Gonna have a long road ahead of me. But I will looking forward to every minute of travel
  23. A well travelled 1971ss that went halfway across the continent, to return an hour away from its original home :p .Been giving it some lovin' in the past few days.New plugs cap and rotor, lotsa penetrating fluid on everything. Got the trunk release working, lights, dome light, even the underhood key reminder buzzer is working! The more I get into this car the more she wants to come alive and work. :)
  24. Unsuccesfully tracked all my interior parts coming from OPGI, hopefully they can find the package tomorrow DSC_0221 by Steve Hoodicoff, on Flickr
