  1. The 1970 VIN and body tag do not indicate what engine came in the car. This will help you decode the engine which you can see if it matches the VIN. https://www.firstgenmc.com/forums/index.php?/resources/decodingengine/
  2. I prefer to keep my cars the same as they rolled off the assembly line. That being said I purchased a Classic Copper 1971 SS454 that was originally Rosewood with a white vinyl top and it didn’t bother me. The original combination was nice too but I fell in love with it in it’s new colour. I’ve had good offers on the car too so it hasn’t affected the value. I suggest if you do change the colour try to stick with a factory optional colour.
  3. Here’s a Monte with 15x8 and 5” backspacing on all 4 corners. I can’t recall what his tire size was. It may be 255/60 on all 4 if I recall.
  4. 15x8 with 5” backspace should work nicely front and rear if you have stock height suspension. Note that if your front springs allow the front to sit low you could end up with some rubbing.
  5. That was an amazing deal at the time. He sold this Monte, the trailer and another nice stock 1970 Monte as a package for around $20k. I met the guy who purchased these from Royce in 2013. I didn’t have the cash at the time or I would have been all over that.

    Welcome! Great group here.
  7. I hope to keep that streak going with Summerland, BC next year.
  8. I made it home safely yesterday afternoon. The car gave me a little trouble at times but was always short lived and was able to keep moving. It was either vapor lock or bad gas. It seemed like whenever I had ethanol free gas it was fine. I was windows down almost the entire time and I think I drove in the rain for a total of 20 minutes the whole trip. It was fantastic! We have a lot of great people in this family (club) and really enjoy getting together with everyone. I even met up with 5 additional members during the trip there and back. This Utah show has been on my radar for a meet for a number of years and figured this was the year to do it. The location, the weather and the Cache Valley cruise-in event were all perfect for a meet. We will likely be going back there again in the future for a meet.

  13. I received the award on behalf of the FGMCC at the car show in Utah on Saturday during the Western Meet. The event staff and the attendees were very appreciative that we all attended their show. I had so many people come up to me to thank us for coming throughout the weekend. 5250C848-FA24-4336-B61F-CAD69F2AF598.mov
  14. Overall we had 28 members and 24 cars at the meet from 8 states and 2 provinces. Here are the Monte Carlos in attendance.
  15. A few photos from Thursday. None of them are at a gas station…
  16. Thirsty cars. Johnny’s 72 Monte has dual quads and stops often.
  17. Well, here it is, 1:15am and just getting to bed. Had too much fun and didn’t take many photos today. All I got was a photo of the thirsty big blocks from the drive to Logan today. Several members have arrived and more are on their way. Should be a great weekend!
  18. I’m still here Joe. Purchased and sold a few Montes over the years. I still have my turquoise 70 Monte and also have a 1971 SS454. I’ve also been coordinating the Western Meets and currently in the middle of a road trip to the one in Utah.
  19. Today’s adventures. Met up with a new member Johnny in Ellensburg, WA for lunch. We both left early in the morning from different areas of BC and managed to be at Red Horse Diner within 20 minutes of each other. We also met up with another member in Oregon that can’t make it to the meet later in the day for a short visit (no photos of Doug).
  20. I’m almost all packed up ready to go. It will be a two-day drive to Logan and meeting up with a member in Washington for the drive there.
