ejw71
On a '70 is a device located on one of the brake lines between the master cylinder and the proportioning valve. It measures approximatley 2.5" X 2.5". It isn't used on a '71 Monte and probably not on a '72. What is it's purpose and what was done to the '71/'72s to elimate it? Thanks, Ed ------------------ '71 Black 406/700R4 '71 Sandalwood SS454 '71 in process Super Dark Green/346LS1/4L60E

Thanks, Ed That is the metering valve for the front disc brakes. On the frame in front of the rear axle is the proportioning valve for the rear brakes. What you see on the front frame rail is just a splitter and low fluid brake light switch. This was all combined into one valve for 71 and up and is on the left front frame rail. ------------------ Steve
ejw71
Steve, Therefore, it would be a mistake to eliminate it, right? Thanks, Ed [This message has been edited by ejw71 (edited 09-09-2002).]

Thanks, Ed If you want the brakes to work right leave it there.
