70 Iron
I changed my 2 barrel manifold to a 4 barrel with a Alumimun performer.I went with a stage 2 Quadrajet from Jegs.Do they make a differnt cable for the 4 barrel kickdown ?My kickdown cable is 2 inches or so short. The engine is a 350.I put a new throttle cable on for the 4 barrel which works fine. I was wondering if any of you went thru this and what you did to correct it.Thanks Terry

70 Iron
I used the same bracket that was on the cable originly, and bolted it in the same back left two bolts.Maybe the carb linkage is the problem.I'll look a little closer tomorrow ,it was kind of late when I finished and also a little tired,I'm getting to old to tackle jobs like this!! lol Thanks 72 Terry
7tonemonte
I went to a 4 bbl, I needed a different bracket to hold the kickdown linkage, I got it from edelbrock, and it needed modification anyway. I used the same cable from the 2 bbl though
70 Iron
Thanks Tony, I will look in the Jegs catalog for a bracket.I found the cables in the Paddock cat and they also say that there all the same. Â Tony, I sent you a PM. Terry
7tonemonte
Terry, I found my reciept from Jegs, the extras I ordered were part # 03508012... Throt/AT Cable ext.kit chevy ($5.99) part # 03508031... Throttle Bracket Universal ($24.99) Its been a while since I did this, but now I do remember the throttle bracket not working from my original, and the new one needed minor modification, and as far as I know, I never used the extention kit for the kickdown cable. Hope this helps you out. Got your PM and you got 2 back!
alex's72fgmc
i had the same issue with billies car i had to use a universal kickdown bracket as i went to a squarebore carb "edelbrock 1407" and the kickdown pin was further forward. causing an issue with install of the kickdown cable i had to hack a spare aftermarket kickdown bracket to make the kickdown cable to work. 70 Iron
I fixed the kickdown problem today, It was'nt as short as previously thought,it was about 1 1/2".I extended the slot in the kickdown with a "slot" from a newer model cruise control and just cut off the rod part, used a small bolt and double nut to lock it where the adjustment should be,and hooked the other end on the stud on the carb. This will work until I find the original bracket.I just took it out for a spin and it all worked great. The new rear gears 308:1 {had 256:1}the dual exhaust and the 4 barrel sure made a difference. Thanks to all Terry
