robee
I was at a book store and picked up a book called american muscule cars. Any way it had said that in 71 1700 something SS came with 402 and 200 something came with 454. Is that wrong? I myself am restoring a 71 SS454 Monte carlo wish me luck?I keep working on it hopping i dont break anything. The man i bought it from had it stored 4 15yrs.I still have the original exhaust, rims, etc. had 42,000 original miles.Bought that car a 70 monte halo from him for 4,500. luck me! 502ci
Yeah, those numbers are a bit off. Click this LINK for some more realistic numbers. Oh, and all SS montes were 454's, no 402's ever in the SS. Bill
Sam (Bones)
ALL SS's had 454's
Shadow Gray SS
How do we know all SS cars were 454's? Just curious. Is it the lack of any 402 cars with buildsheets that have Z20?
Sam (Bones)
the SS package came with a 454, although we know of a '71 bench seat, 402, 4 speed that has the SS trim on the back, but it's not a SS
