Just thought I would share a list I found surfing late last night....really late...Darren.

 

SS Monte Carlos were built in 1970 and 1971. No SS Monte Carlos were built in 1972. The only way to get the SS was with a 454 (LS5 only). Note that in 1972 you could get a 454 Monte Carlo - without the SS option. (W-CODE).

 

No 4-speed 454 Monte Carlos were built !

And no 4-speed 1972 Monte Carlos were built with any engine.

Here are some production totals for the rarer Monte Carlos:

 

1970 350/Powerglide: 7,507 cars (L65 2-bbl and L48 4-bbl / M35)

1970 350/3-speed manual: 545 cars (all were L65 2-bbl)

1970 350/4-speed: 935 cars (L65 2-bbl and L48 4-bbl / M20)

1970 400/4-speed: 123 cars (all were LF6 2-bbl 400 small-block / M20)

1970 400/TH-350: 16,472 cars (all were LF6 2-bbl 400 small-block / M38)

1970 402/4-speed: 493 cars (all were LS3/M20)

1970 402/TH-400: 6,963 cars (all were LS3/M40)

1970 SS-454/TH-400: 3,823 cars (all were LS5/M40)

 

1971 350/Powerglide: 2,056 cars (all were L65 2-bbl / M35)

1971 350/3-speed manual: 280 cars (all were L65/M11)

1971 350/4-speed: 227 cars (L65 2-bbl and L48 4-bbl / M20)

1971 402/4-speed: 122 cars (all were LS3/M20)

1971 402/TH-400: 8,511 cars (all were LS3/M40)

1971 SS-454/TH-400: 1,919 cars (all were LS5)

 

1972 350/Powerglide: 576 cars (all were L65 2-bbl / M35)

1972 350/3-speed manual: 342 cars (all were L65/M11)

1972 402/TH-400: 9,959 cars (all were LS3/M40)

1972 454/TH400: 1,268 cars (all were LS5/M40)
