Leghome
When I pulled the motor and tranny out of my 72 my son in-law had to take the cups off of the rear U joint to drop the drive shaft. How much do I need to shorten my drive shaft so that this is not a problem when I reinstall it in a couple of weeks? Even when he took the caps off we still had to finagle it out. Mike 57
When you were pulling the drive shaft was the rear hanging? Try it with the rear lifted and on jack stands.

Leghome
Took the drive shaft to INDY Rack and Axle today and they shortened it 5/8". They took a measurement on the front of the shaft and said it needed to be shortened at least 1/2". I said what about 3/4" and so we compromised. badddoin
Have the samewith my 72. Gotta take the caps off then roll the yoke to get it out. It's gonna stay that way - bigger fish to fry and plenty of 'em.
