MGD72Monte
I'm about to send out the differential for sandblast, and was wondering about whether I should just tape up the plastic differential vent valve or try to remove it. Is it easy to remove? How do you do it, I don't want to break it. Thanks
Slaman
I think it is simply pressed in. Probably grab it with pliers and twist back and forth and pull up... Which reminds me I need to replace mine since I snapped it off somehow. that is going to be fun trying to get the reaining pice out.
70 Iron
Hi Steve, Yes the vent just pulls out,and maybe some easy twisting with pliars.I just tape around mine but I blast my own .The cap also comes off the vent stem by pulling. MGD72Monte
Once it is twisted out, I assume it is re-usable? Do you need a special tool to ?press? it back in? Do you need any kind of sealant as part of the re-install. Thanks
70 Iron
MG, It just pushes back in with no sealant and no tool.,I've never had any problem with them popping out. Also new ones are available if needed. Terry
geartech
Yes, they just push back in. They are not expensive new... National Parts Depot part number C_5387_1 $2.81 I have an extra one if you don't want the hassle of ordering, I can throw it in a envelope to you. MGD72Monte
Thanks a lot guys, although a small item, I hate it when I break something because I have no idea how it is supposed to come apart. Thanks for the offer Mike, I'll keep in mind if I damage it.
MGD72Monte
To close this off, I ended up removing it and it came out easily twisting it back and forth gently with some vise grips. I also got the cap of by removing it by hand for cleaning. Thanks again.
