SHIFTER MODIFICATION/CONVERSION

I know this has been discussed here before, just looking for some opinions on which one works best or if there may be something else on the market Im not aware of. Also, where is the cheapest place to by the Shiftworks plate? Do other vendors sell them? I have a TH350.

Get in touch with Steve (Monteman1971)...he did mine...well...part of mine...we still have to weld the 3rd gear part....he may have some pics somewhere

I cut a piece of metal from an old alternator top bracket and used it for the mod. It works great! You just need a stop between 2nd and 3rd and and another one that's a little taller between 3rd and Neutral. Grind/file both stops on the same piece and then weld to the outside of the factory detent. You'll want the 1st to 2nd stop just tall enough to do the job. The way I did mine, a push to get into 2nd is all that's needed, then squeeze the handle just a little and the shifter will slide forward a hair and rest on top of the stop and still stay in second gear. When I'm ready to shift again, I just bump the shifter forward. Works perfect every time.
