  1. Hey Art, I replaced mine with a glass mounted version like the newer cars, has 2 map lights. I'll look up were I got a bit later as I'm off to work.....
  2. Nice photo Robert! I now see more clearly how these would be quite effective...........
  3. Thanks Robert, I just found the brace listed in the PST catalog with the kit! Great info, was not aware of such a support . Thanks!
  4. I'd love to see a pic of that Robert............I just reviewed my Assembly manual for 72 and don't show that support brace. Steve, that's the setup I have, 1" spring spacer, cargo coils with air shocks at 25 lbs. Yes, I installed with jack stands when I was doing my brake job. What are you going to change?
  5. Larry, just pulled my file, part # is SUM-720208. $140.00
  6. Hey Crewdog, I'm not familiar with the brace that your referring to but here's a photo of my upgrade, boxed lowers with poly bushings and sway bar from Summit.
  7. Robert, Looks great! Are you installing the burlwood cover back ON?
  8. you don't have a spare floor shift speedo by chance...............
  9. Looks good Robert, I'm working towards something similar, I'm getting the Tachman to convert the AMP gauge to volts.........
  10. Bought after market HEI setup, so far so good for $50 distributor.
  11. Thanks Doug, I found a few floor shift speedo's (used) but didn't know if the face was removable. When I installed the Shiftworks Tach for the clock last year, I covered the gear selector on my speedo with black tape. I am now prepping for the idiot light to gauge swap & figured the speedo fix should be correctly fixed at the same time.
  12. Another question guys............can the face of a speedometer be switch out? (column shift vs floor shift) style??
  13. What is Sonny's contact info (email or phone) I'm working towards a similar conversion............THX!
  14. I realize the PCB is different, just needed to know if I need to search for the gauge mounting brackets....................
  15. I have access to the 3 small gauges (volts, fuel, & temp) without the mounting brackets, are the current indicator lights mounted on the same brackets?
  16. Sam is correct, use those ARP bolts. For your bellhousing bolts you can use grade 8 bolts, I installed a Lakewood bell vs a stock bell like your using so I made several trips to ACE for the proper size bolts..............
  17. I've also heard of people using aluminum foil, don't tell the wife! Just form a ball of foil and slowly close the hood as the foil won't spring back after its compressed.

    Copy and paste

As John stated, copy & paste used to work, now it doesn't???
  19. Thanks Doug. The original owner bought it when he came back from NAM also (my best friends older brother) his fiancé wouldn't let him buy the 71 SS he wanted cause it had bucket seats???
  20. Thanks a bunch Doug, great effort in the explanation!
  21. It's very good with lots of detailed pictures. One section was just on high performance mods..........
  22. I also bought his book!
  23. Since you need to remove the airhorn to replace the float, you should definitely measure how flat the bottom is. I too have dealt with the guys at Cliff's inreference to my past issues.............
  24. Just a thought Sam, I had some irratic issues with mine also, even after the rebuild. I was informed by an older gent that my airhorn mine be slightly warped. He said to remove the airhorn and lay a straight edge across the bottom of the horn. If there was any gap, usually in the center area, I would experience problems due to leaking. Warpage of the airhorn is due to over tightening of the bolts over time. I performed this test and he was correct. I carefully filed the perimeter edges of the bottom of the airhorn until the gap was gone, you need to use a large file. Once the gap is gone, thoroughly clean the airhorn of metal filings. Also when reinstalling the gasket between the airhorn & the base, lightly cover the gasket with a white lithium grease on both sides. This will also help to eliminate any leaks and do NOT over tighten the bolts. Good Luck!
  25. Sam, why did you go with an internally balanced crank? Have been looking at 400SB's and they are externally balanced and the advice is to go internally balanced crank on them also, I'm just trying to understand why?? Didn't mean to hijack this thread...........
