  1. Hi there. My name is Hugh and I just joined the other day. I've had a few First Gen Monte Carlo's in my earlier years and consider it my favorite car. Unfortunately I sold my 72 Monte which had a lot of sentimental value a little over 20 years ago. At the time I did it for financial reasons but long regret it! I spotted this Monte Carlo in a barn helping a guy out pick rocks out of a field with his bobcat that was stored in the same barn. I asked him if we sell it and he told me he was saving it for his son. Long story short, after 25 years he realized his son had no interest in it. He had owned it since new and finally decided after it sat for 30 years to sell it to me. I've really enjoyed looking at the pictures on this website and look forward to meeting some of you. I also hope for some good contacts for parts or work. Apparently someone dropped something heavy on the the roof which also crushed the upper half of the rear drivers side quarter panel. My daughter wants to work on it with me so we plan on attending the meet in Pennsylvania. Looking forward to being a member! Sorry for the long introduction.

  2. I used Noico, I liked that it has a texture that flattens out when you've rolled it enough. Agreed on the mass backing for the carpet, it's a little harder to handle but it's going to do a better job than the stock style pads. Don't forget to get the wheel wells (including inside the quarter window area) and the package tray and rear seat divider.

  3. I used something similar it's like a foil backed bubble wrap I got at home depot or lowes (dont remember where) but both have it. Worked well , I used spray adhesive to hold it in place. Worked well.

  4. Hey, Anthony, Dynamat is a great product and still available, as are several alternatives with lesser known names and much lower price tags. Since it's going under the carpet anyway (and if budget is any concern), you might want to look at an unlikely alternative that I have used successfully. Frost King FV516 Duct Insulation Self Adhesive Foil & Foam comes in 12" wide, 15' long rolls and costs less than a fourth of typical Dynamat prices per square foot. I picked mine up at Home Depot but you can also order it on eBay if you don't mind paying shipping. Here's a couple of links: https://www.ebay.com/itm/143861344477?chn=ps&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-213727-13078-0&mkcid=2&itemid=143861344477&targetid=4581115207302808&device=c&mktype=&googleloc=&poi=&campaignid=410490119&mkgroupid=1240249342282558&rlsatarget=pla-4581115207302808&abcId=9300491&merchantid=51291&msclkid=c3d71355df241c9c5dbc73df43ae62c8 https://www.ebay.com/itm/393194074439?chn=ps&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-213727-13078-0&mkcid=2&itemid=393194074439&targetid=4580771609030758&device=c&mktype=&googleloc=&poi=&campaignid=410490118&mkgroupid=1234751784804585&rlsatarget=pla-4580771609030758&abcId=9300491&merchantid=51291&msclkid=3fb635efefb51111aee05565742517f0 Good luck with your project.

  5. There are a lot of similar products like DynaMat. I cannot remember the name of what I used but I got a real good deal on it. It does help and then the ACC carpet with the mass backing really helped. We had to have the stereo set at about 22 on the volume before and now we set it at 9 to 11 and have a normal voiced conversation plus it has cooled the floor down so much that I can drive barefoot.
