  1. I've got a 71 Monte Carlo that needs the front inner fender wells replaced. They're plastic and all cracked out. I'd like to find a set that are metal to replace them and I've heard that 70-72 Chevelle metal inner fender wells will fit my 71 MC. Just wondered if anyone has ever installed metal inner fenderwells on their 70-72 Monte Carlo and how much trouble they had if any. I've got a 71 MC convertible as well that has metal inner fender wells, but I didn't install them. I know many of the parts used on that car were Chevelle, but can't say with 100% certainty that the inner fender wells are. Just wondered if anyone has any experience with this and could lend some advice. Thanks, Britton
  2. Thanks to all for the help on getting these photos uploaded. I wanted to share some pictures I found recently of my family in 1979 with our Gulf Green 72 Monte Carlo. It was dad's daily driver for several years until I reached high school age and then my folks gave me the car. I drove it for about 5 years and even entered it in some car shows. In 1988, I sold the Monte and bought a new car. Should have kept the Monte! In the 30 plus years since, I've had 4 other Montes including this Nevada Silver 71 and Cranberry Red 71 convertible which I currently own. My dad and I collect and show old cars together and we're very proud of these 2. They're keepers!
  3. This may be a dumb question, but is it hard on the body or frame of a Monte Carlo convertible to leave the convertible top down all the time? I know the top will get wrinkled, but I wasn't sure if the convertible top being up or down had anything to do with the cars structural integrity. I like the looks of the car better with the top down, but don't want to risk doing damage to it.
  4. I was thinking of having my1971 grille chrome plated and was wondering if anyone has had any success having one plated. I took my grille into a local plater and he thought he would have a hard time polishing the slats on the grille.
  5. Are there sport mirrors that can be taken and used from other cars? I was told quite a while back that the sport mirrors from a Pontiac Phoenix from the 80's might fit a 70-72 Monte Carlo. Don't know if its true.
  6. I didn't know either that the horizontal bar on the tail lights were supposed to be red. What a cool detail! Gonna do that to mine. Thanks for the tip!
  7. I pulled out the back up lights, repainted the fixtures, cleaned the gaskets and lenses and replaced the bulbs. Moving to the tail lights next.
