    COYS WHEELS

lol...that's the best one I've got... It's been in plenty of Magazines too.....

    COYS WHEELS

Here's my cousins 57 with them. But I agree with Dan, I think the Monte's need a step lip instead of the smooth. Steve
  3. I was having a similar problem with mine....my brother-in-law (the electrician) told me to run a dedicated line for the welder from my electrical box. He said with all the connections for outlets in between my garage and the electrical box that I was losing current because the welder draws a lot of amps and was creating to much heat at those connections. Worked like a charm after that....I have a heavy gauge extension cord that I made but it's only about 10 feet long and I only use it when I absolutely have to. My 2 cents, Steve
  4. Thanks guys....I'm going to order a pair of air bags today....for the money...it's worth it. The only bad thing is most of them come in that red color.....lol. I found a set made by Firestone in blue.....
  5. All I want to know is will I have a better ET with the bag in the right rear......lol.... Has anyone done this...tried it with and without the bag?
  6. 1.71 60 foot. I didn't have any traction problems but I figure the twisting action could be put to better use.
  7. I know we've covered this a bit before but I'm looking for a more definitive answer if possible. At the track my car twisted quite a bit....lifting the left front tire just off the ground. My thought is that if I put an air bag in the right rear, this would eliminate some of that energy being wasted on twisting the car and therefore launching the car faster. Your thoughts?
  8. The linkage is under the car on the drivers side. You'll see a series of metal bars that connect between the transmission and the steering column....the rod off the column has an adjusting nut. Loosen the nut, adjust the column all the way in park and tighten it. And welcome to the forum!!!!!
  9. I've knocked out plenty of studs....I jam a piece of 2x4 behind the flange and hit the stud with a 3lb sledge...they normally come out very easy...spray them with a little PB Blaster or WD40 first.....There is plenty of room to get the stud out and the new one in. I use an impact gun to press the new one in. Put it in place, use a nice thick washer and then a lug nut with the flat side towards the flange....make sure to oil the lug well first and don't over do it. Watch the lug from the back side of the flange and once it's flush...your done. Note that this creates some heat, so use the oil and don't use the "pressing lug" for more than 3 studs to avoid damaging the threads.....throw those lugs away when done. My custom rims have a thick mounting flange because they are aluminum, I've had the same rims on three cars and I've done them all the same and put in longer studs. Just make sure you get the correct studs...you'd be surprised at how many sizes they offer. If you get ones that are to big your going to be killing yourself and the studs to get them in without damaging the threads. And I guess the real question here is....How did you bend the studs in the first place?.....lol My 2 cents Steve
  10. I don't do a lot of track time so I don't have a set of skinnies for the front...I use the same tires as in my signature. But you think 2-3 tenths??? I may have to consider that.....lol.
  11. Dave, My car runs on the street the same way as the track...spare in the trunk and all....lol. Stroker..."accused in a PM"??? Of what? Having an opinion? Everyone is entitled to their opinion....A good lively debate is good for the soul.... My point was that even on the streets, drag radials have more grip than a street tire.....however little more that maybe but they have more. Steve
  12. I'm going to have to disagree here a bit.....I agree that if you flat punch your car that your going to get tire spin either way......but......I run standard BFG radials on my car during the winter....the car is like on ice with them...I can burn straight through into 3rd gear....But with my Mickey Thompson drag radials the car doesn't burn a 1/4 of the distance. In any case...if I come across some street punk who wants to run...let's face it....he's going to be running street tires in most cases....So instead of flat punching it..I ease into it a bit to prevent tire spin.... Not really that difficult. I have yet to lose on the street with the exception of this time on the parkway where the guy wanted to go from 50mph in his super charged Shelby Mustang.... I later found out that he ran low 11's at the track as well. I run 27lbs on the street and 20lbs at the track......Unfortunately, the tires aren't going to last 5000 miles.....
  13. I run mine at 27lbs on the street and 20lbs at the track...but they are 17's with less sidewall. They look sweet Dave!!
  14. Sweet looking!!! That sway bar is looking real heavy duty....how's the ride? Steve
  15. Nice...auto or stick?
  16. I have the M/T 295/45 17's on mine.....11.6 tread, 27.1 inches tall...Great tire...without them the Monte is like a slip and slide..... My favorite body style on the Chevelle Dave........That and I lean towards the 69's too.....
  17. That's my vote....It's why you can't put a 1971 rear "SS" on a 1970...well, without drilling a new hole...
  18. That is very cool...I didn't see...how much?
  19. I agree with Dave.....the all rubber one is stock with the "oil" on it. That's how it was on my 1972 as well. Steve
  20. Brake fluid is nasty stuff.......It can make a mess real fast....lol... The master and booster are going to look great in your Monte Ian....can't wait to hear how the car stops.... Steve
  21. They look great!!!!! Welcome to the site!!!! Nice Monte. I'd be interested in the backspacing too...what are the dimensions on those rear tires?
  22. Sounds like your lash isn't set right and creating extra wear (even though nothing is visible). I would go back and check the lash again to make sure it's within tolerance for your 9 inch. I believe for a 12 bolt the lash should be no more than .009. Steve
  23. You can fit that rim but the backspacing would have to be 6 inches. But it is going to be a very tight fit. I have 17x9.5 with a 5.5 backspacing with no issues....I also had 18x9.5 with 5.5 backspacing..no issues...but all are very close to the outside wheel lip...to which I did end up trimming just a bit to make sure they would never rub. But I'm also running a fat tire 295/45. With the 6 inch backspacing you'll fit but now your going to be tight to the inside as well. My 2 cents Steve
  24. Welcome Nolan.....looks like Andreas has you covered......
  25. Very cool Ian......nice clean set-up and the price is right!!! Let us know how they stop...... Steve
