Well the tear down has started, I removed the old 350 and tranny and sold them as a set. The new/ used 5.3 will show up at the house this week. Right now Ebay, Summit and Jegs are loving me, as I'm gathering all the parts needed for this project. If I can shake the cobwebs from my old brain I'll post some pics soon. As for the transmission I think I'll wait and look for a 4l60E

I want to keep things simple, This project alone has plenty of modifications. I don’t intend to race just cruse and open it up a time or two. Now what year of 4L60E would work best?

Well I decided to move forward with the engine swap. I just bought a 5.3l motor out of a 2002 1500 Silverado, 110k miles it is complete with all the wiring and accessories. Next on the list is a transmission, I have my eye on a 4L60E. what do you think of this tranny?

Has anyone installed a 5.3 from a Silverado or suburban into a monte? I'm seriously considering it.

Robert All you had to do was trim the shroud to fit over the E- fans?

The fan I have now is a fixed to the water pump, I think it's a 5 or 7 blade. I would be interested in seeing that face book post. Larry: What is the diameter of the clutch fan your running?

So I need to do something about my cooling system. The summer months are kind of tough on the Monte. The factory system works fine while the car is running down the road with the temperature around 180,190.the problem is when I stopped at a traffic light for a long time or a drive thru window. The temperature rises up to 220. I recently bought a mark 8 fan from the you pull it yard, today and I tested and one of The Speed's is bad, in addation I was a little bumbed because it's too big to fit in the stock shroud. Question is will the taurus fan fit in the stock shroud? Or will a thermal cluch fan do the job? I really would like to keep fan shroud. By the way I'm running a 180 t stat. And the 350 it's pretty much stock with exception of headers, intake and alternator.

That looks like a simple installation. Is this harness just for the H4 head lights?

Thats somthing to think about, I'm still dealing with the dull /dim head lights.

30 Spline is what I was looking for, I'll give them a call and ask a few questions.

I'm a little unsure if this will work. Only because Im not sure what axel splines I have. The rear end is a 12 bolt and I already picked up some 3:31 gears. The add states Eaton Style maybe it's not an Eaton, the guy has 100% feed back so that a good thing. Well here in NM pretty much anything goes, I've seen green, blue and yellow tints. All I'm looking for is a brighter light for when I do some night time driving. Daryl I'll looking to the H4's thanks

I need some clarification. I need to change the cheap projector lights I got off e-bay due to a yellow look about them. I want to get headlights similar to those on the newer cars that have a bluish color to them. Are these H4? or HID? or LED?

Congrats on scoring a 200R. I have a quick? Will any 200R work on our Monte's? or does it have to come out a specific year and model?
