  1. ok so I got the bushing shell all the way in and pushed the bushing back out the other way and got the 2nd one installed..why is the 2nd one always easier than the 1st? lol Now to get the holes lined up and bolt in the arms....
  2. yeah it needs to go in about 1/16 or so more but im wondering if I can jus push the bushing back the other way since ive pushed it out the other side..i finally got some bigger washers to use!
  3. yeah..my washers were jus a tad too small..imma take the bushing out the metal case and jus push the case in then grease up the bushing and push it in after the hard part....learning as I go!!!
  4. i have the street/strip one in my th350 and its fun to drive..i like the firm shifts..once i get new gears out back imma really have a good time!!!
  5. so this is how the bushing looks now with the case all the way in... see the bushing started comming out the other side.. I can push it back through but im wondering if its ruined and I should buy another......any thoughts?????????
  6. yes in that pic the bushing isnt all the way in yet..i should take one with it all the way in. Didnt know you could install the shell then jus slide the bushing in..darn it. And they came painted black. I will post another pic when I get home.
  7. thanks man..yeah i wanted to get all the rust repair out the way..it was easy with the body off the frame!!!!
  8. so im installing the two bushings on top of the rear end..pressing them in is a pain..but heres my question..in the pic below have I pressed the bushing in too far..have i ruined the bushing or will it still work?? after I removed my makeshift press the bushing houseing isnt bent but the bushing it self was pushed into the houseing and is now completly flat and even with the outter houseing where as it was out of the houseing about 1/16" before I started pressing it in...man I hope i dont have to take it back out.
  9. here you go..the right way...lol Bushings are in the freezer as we speak..gettin ready to bang them in tomarrow
  10. yeah I know thats how things end up when your pushin a rear end with ur foot while holding up a frame so you can clear the exaust with the wheels...the fun of workin in a 2 car garage
  11. got the rearend all cleand up and a frresh coat of paint..shes ready to go back in for now untill I save up money for the rebuild
  12. got my new rear control arms...bright red...lol gotta love UMI & Summit.. hummm gotta find a new friend....let the search begin...lol
  13. shift kits increase the line pressure in the tranny causeing a firmer shift. Ive heard this can actually make your tranny live longer because stock trannys make soft shift for comfort but that builds up heat in the tranny..the harder shift is what the tranny likes! as for how hard they are to install..never did one on a 200r4..but ive done a few th350s and they are simple to install..once you get the tranny out the car and on a work bench...thats actually harder to do than installing the shift kit...lol...all in all shift kits are a good thing....because it will give you a firmer shift and less tranny slippage and less heat build up and no you dont have to rebuild ur tranny before you install..but if your having tranny problems then you should address those before the install because it could make those issues worse!!
  14. yes im adding a bigger front and a rear sway bar..gonna get the UMI ones cuz for some reason I want red sway bars under there..i like that look. Rebuilding the drum set up isnt a bad idea i jus hate dealing with those springs..disc brake changes are sooo much easier...lol and yes im for sure gettin all new brake lines & hoses..all stainless stuff..gotta go with the best for the brake system. 3.31s sound like a good compromise between street crusieng and a better off the line launch! I dont think i wanna tackle rebuilding the rear my self..its kinda intimidating..but never know!..my control arms should be here today..gotta love new parts!!
  15. So im finally to the point in my build where im ready to tear into the rear end. Never tried any of this type of work but my plans are after all the cleaning of the rear end of course..to rebuild the rear suspension..I ordered all UMI parts..real control arms & poly bushings..non adjustable but at a later time i might change out the uppers to adjustable ones...i dunno! Heres my question..Our cars have these rear control arm braces...should I replace these or jus clean up the original ones?? and if I replace them..should I get adjustable ones or not??? The first part of this build will be to either rebuild the drum brakes or change over to rear disks..still debating on that as some of the kits ive seen are expensive. if going with a rear disk set up..what do you all reccomend..an off the shelf kit from Cpp or something like that or hit the junk yards and piece something together which I dont mind doing! As for gears..im probally gonna go with a 3:31 or 3:55 so i can still have a kinda low freeway rpm..should i go with c clip eliminator axels or keep the stock set up..the car isnt gonna see much track time..jus fun on the streets......Ikno wwe all love pics so heres where I am so far..jus cleaning things up now!!! still have some cleaning to do!!!
  16. yeah the LMP plug works great but they gonna always be brighter than the dash!!!
  17. because of that above pic..i painted my gastank silver and the straps black..jus like that..i like that look...lol
  18. so then it sould be pretty easy to do with the body off the frame then..no worries about drilling into the tranny..lol..thanks!!!
  19. so when installing a floor shifter..when changeing from column shifter..u can basically jus place it where it feels good cuz the hole you drill is for the cable to shift the tranny..sounds pretty easy...
  20. thanks guys..I didnt think about the spray clear..thats a good Idea also
  21. finally got it all finished up..the trunk is done..... then a lil All Metal over the welds And then some black spray paint and Now I wanna get the splatter paint to give it the stock look. Its funny how you can see the old metal on the right real good next to the new metal.....hahaha thats what carpet is for
  22. got painting today..POR 15 is my friend again!!!! Now I can weld in the center section and paint the whole floor
  23. painted the trunk with POR 15 Now I can weld in the center floor section
