  1. Hank and I went to the muffler shop in Oroville Ca… If The Monte rolls, Hank is in the front seat….. We added 16" glass packs for resonators… It took the cackle sound and drone out of the pro flows….. Way quieter,,, but still has that deep sound…. Hank likes it !!!! Ed C…
  2. Thanks Rob… I really appreciate the help from club members … This April, Monte Carlo has been a part of our lives for 52 years… I've logged well over 350,000 verifiable miles in the Monte drivers seat and along the way I've learned everything I know from experiences of others and those of my own… It gives me great pleasure knowing that the car I loved from first sight has finally gotten the attention it deserves… All of our children (4) learned to drive in the seat of a Monte Carlo ….. New ideas are always welcomed …. Keep up the great work of sharing….. Ed C …
  3. Installed the new taillights today… First one took about about an hour. Second one took about 20 minutes… Very happy with results… No major problems… The first thing I did was cut the pig tails on the new lights to about 6 "… put the tail light adapter in …. and hooked them up for testing .. Getting the new gaskets to stay in place was the most difficult part, so I use a few spots of RTV... After testing , the Wiring was simple… I cut the yellow wire on the new lights and hid them in the remaining portion of the loom… Then its was red to red…. then black on the light to the blue on the adapter … green on the light to black on the adapter….. 4. She's back in her bed, safe at home again … Replaced the valve guides and installed a new square bore Edelbrock performer intake..The machinist recommended I use bronze valve guides …. The new Edelbrock intake is about 1"taller and the thick gasket was concerning, so I used a thinner air filter to insure hood clearance… Went back to using a standard HEI Distributer rather than the MSD… I was never happy with the MSD… Runs great… Can't wait to drive her up to Oregon and visit our Daughter… Next will be installation of the new LED tail lights… Ed C …
  5. Rob, I think this is better info on the manufacture and origin of the lights… The person billed is apparently the dealer … Ed …
  6. The seller info on EBAY was "Superdealsfastshipping"……. 7318 …
  7. Tested new lights ….. used a 9 volt battery, connect the green wire to the negative and red or black to the positive …. Don't do this with the car battery….. Testing LED lights for proper polarity with a 9v battery is also a great way of determining which wires are positive and which are negative. For example, if you have a three wire LED light assembly, touch the suspected negative(-) wire to the 9v battery negative(-) side and at the same time, touch the one of the remaining wires to the 9v battery positive(+) side. If by chance you’re mistaken and end up with both positive wires connected to the 9v battery (LED + to 9v(-) and LED+ to 9v(+) ) no damage should occur. 9. Gottem… Plan to install as soon as I finish the bad valve guide on # 4… I have the head back on… long story ..
  10. There was a little seafood place down by the ship……Great fish and chips… Very informal… When you get to Ashland you might want to do Callahans for dinner. It's a mountain lodge 15 minutes from Ashland …. Good dining….. My son in law has one of his deer head trophies on display… Later I'll provide a list of some of my favorite wineries for wine tasting… Two that come to mind are Roxy Anns and Kriselle's …. Ed C
  11. My new led tail lights arrive today… It took about two weeks, but I think they are worth the wait… Will update after install …
  12. Took the 041 original cyl heads in for repair…. Worn valve Guide on engine with less than 5000 miles on rebuild … Nr 4 exhaust valve was worn to the wobbling point.. others were mildly worn …. probably except-able to some... Don't recommend Quality Machine shop in Medford Oregon … This is the third major problem … I am done with these people… All they do is blame the customer or the install… Fortunately the heads are ok… EVC …
  13. Cave Junction Oregon … Hwy 199… If it's on the trail, Great food and world famous… Taylor's Sausage……. Est.. 2 to 2.5 hours from Ashland. Google it.. Time permitting it will be worth the trip ….

  15. Happened to me a few years ago… Two cars were invaded…. $ 1500 on one and $800 for the other…. Peppermint oil works… I put a few drops on some wooden clothes pins and placed them under the hood ….. End of problem…. Also, I use Irish spring soap under the seat and in the trunk…. It works….
  16. The secret to a long life is a good woman, good dog and driving a Monte Carlo .. 12711014_1047198338659413_3707787007261964293_o.thumb.jpg.8051b6a369731ca3caada8335fbd416e.jpg

  17. Sanded the original valve covers… Removing the Edelbrock valve covers and the air cleaner.. Hairline crack in cover …Think I'll turn it into a clock for my garage …
  18. If the air had flowed thru the crank case it would indicate a ring or piston problem…. If the air had flowed thru the carb it would have indicated an intake valve was bad..
  19. I backed off on the rocker adjustment just to make sure the valves were fully closed … Then I put air in the cylinder and the air flowed back thru the exhaust. This indicated the exhaust valve is burned… It works.
  20. Just checked their site.. I think it's what I need …
