There are no other pages that relate to this, just what's shown. I'd use the Frame as the reference point, as circled in red. . Obviously, the tires you have on the car will make a difference, as they address with the 2 separate entries for size. Are all 4 of your tires the same size? Notice they give a fairly wide tolerance of +/- .38" too, that could be nearly an inch when comparing front to rear. (C60 means the car has A/C as well) I didn't check the factory service manuals, I'll look later, after dinner.

You're welcome.

These pages are from the 1972 Factory Assembly manual. In the picture, 13857 corresponds to a Monte. trim height.pdf

Look at the Factory Assembly manual, pages 11D -1, and 11D-3, it shows both sets. I think the front ones are for hood height adjustment, but the rear ones are supposed to stop the hood from going thru the windshield during a frontal collision, or at least help force it to buckle in the middle to protect the occupants.

No, that would be for the front ones.

Great! Glad it worked out for you & thanks for letting us know it was the fix.

Nope. You remove all the factory lights, and nothing they provide for the rest of the gauges shoot down towards the light switch bezel. I looked at it briefly when I installed mine, to see if there was an easy way, but nothing popped out to me. Realistically, you wouldn't really miss it, and I don't tend to drive that car much at night anyways. Maybe a small fiberoptic line like the ashtray light would work if pointed there, but I didn't want to start modifying the D/D gauges to install one and ruin the warranty right off the bat, without testing the system first. Like I said, wasn't a real big deal to me.

Is the starter actually engaging without turning the key?

I did the same Bryan, lol. It didn't pop up any results, then I looked for 'switch adjustment' with my username in the search criteria, then it showed what I was looking for. I knew I posted it somewhere 😁. Good luck & let us know how you make out.

Look here, it's the procedure to adjust them:

72 Monte Custom on TV show, "All Girls Garage"
jft69z replied to jft69z's topic in General 70-72 Monte Carlo Forum
Watching the latest episode of the Courtney Hansen show, I noticed a first gen Monte in their shop. That alone, not too bad a show 😄. Really though, she seems pretty cool to work with. -
Yes, it definitely makes the job a lot easier Steve, however annoying the whole situation may be.

Just plain stupid, in my case. Thanks John! Thanks Bob, I think I was dizzy, LOL. Thanks Rob, it does suck, for sure. I like your idea, sounds like a good plan! It's out & already boxed up, just have to wait for them to pick it up. Dinner & hot tub time...

They didn't really seem too receptive of me wanting a NEW replacement transmission, so I doubt they'll pay labor. They're paying the shipping, as well they should. Thank you, and yeah, it should be out pretty soon. I've had the exhaust in & out about 2 dozen times the last week, trying to make it all fit good, so that'll be out quickly. I just love doing stuff twice...or 3 times. I hate cars.

As expected, the black cloud has parked over my house as usual. After a few phone calls and emails with pictures, they want the transmission back. Only problem is they just sealed my driveway, so fedex won't be able to pick it up for a few days now until it dries. Typical...

Thanks Willie 😄. Still plenty of stuff to do on it, especially if the transmission needs to come out again. Still waiting for them to get back to me.

Thank you all! I've offered to help Paul, but he'd have to bring it here. He said no to that right now, but you never know, 😁

Thanks Mark. I didn't go too crazy with the tires because everything is still new.

It runs. Some issues with the transmission, pops out of reverse for some reason. Called Silversport Transmissions but they're swamped today & have to wait until tomorrow for tech support to call back. Called Tremec direct and they said "that's a new one", naturally, with the black cloud that follows me. No doubt I'll probably be pulling it back out, 😞. Ran pretty fair, considering it's a startup tune & drove it a couple of blocks. Did manage to seal the driveway with a little rubber, before they come for real tomorrow to do it right. In the mean time, maybe I'll clean it up, check everything over, re-install the lower rocker trim, etc. Left the tail pipes on for now, but those will probably come off, especially if I have to pull the trans anyways. Plenty of time to decide. 20221003_155909.mp4
