  1. You are, sir... Sorry. I'm just trying to get as much help figuring out the history of my car as possible. This site has been quite the fountain of information. Thanks.
  2. O.K..... I originally traced the cowl tag on "Chevelle Stuff" and they said that the last 6 digits aren't supposed to. Thanks, Tom.
  3. It was my understanding that the VIN # and the number on the cowl tag aren't supposed to match (according to a couple G.M. websites)..... That's why I was confused as to the data.
  4. I believe it's for a black vinyl roof.... But that's long gone.
  5. She's in the paint shop until next week..... I'll let you know once I get a chance to take a look.
  6. I've had both seats out and there wasn't anything under there..... Maybe the back seat ???
  7. how about an "F" being mistaken for a "B" ???
  8. Thanks ! I'll take a look on the firewall when I get her back.. My body guy says that all the body panels appear to be original, just having some rust trimmed out this time around. Didn't really pursue there being a vinyl top, they get peeled off all the time. I'm just hoping it's something simple like B's and F's getting misread.
  9. That's been my question all along....... The registered VIN doesn't match up with the cowl tag, yet that's the number registries accepts. Other than the paperwork, there is no evidence of the VIN. on the car. I got a chance to decode this tag, came up with the date you found, but like you said, It's a Baltimore tag..... #780 is a green cloth interior with buckets, #45 is Green Mist exterior. Just not sure how it got to be registered as a Flint car..... Unless someone git their "B"s and "F"s confused. Not sure if I want to open that can of worms either..... Everything appears to be legal so far.
  10. Hey Dennis, here's that photo you asked for. Any help you can offer would be great !!! Thanks, Scott.
  11. It's the little things only you know about that bother you the most....... Something someone once told me a long time ago, but it's sure true !! lol
  12. Hi Larry, According to the profile I got from registries, She was originally sold by Edmonton Motors in October '70..... Then moved to Ontario in the later '70's. I bought her from a dealership in Sudbury in '19 and had her shipped out to me. Having had the paint stripped, it looks like she's had a couple shades of green, but anything that still has the original coat looks like it's never been apart.... (door hinges and such) So she's still pretty solid for a 50 year old !!!
  13. There's a tag there, but it doesn't really have any meaning to it. I was looking for the tag on the door jam, but it's gone. Can still see some of the glue residue under the paint.
  14. Hi Rob..... No such luck, the tag was removed prior to the last paint job. I was just wondering.... Didn't the strike in '69 push back the release of the '70 line of Monte Carlos as well ?? The second gen Camaros/Firebirds weren't released April of '70, once the over production of the '69 body style was cleared out. Scott.
  15. Hey Rob, the VIN# is 138570F132861 ... if that helps. Thanks again, Scott.
  16. Hey Rob, I'm still sifting through all the information I've accumulated since I bought her two years ago.... So any clarity I can get is more that welcome !!! I'm finding a lot of things were wrong/slapped together, leading me to question her origins and the abilities of those who had there hands on her prior to me. As soon as I get a chance, I'll get a picture of the tag and send you a copy. Here's a few more pictures that might be helpful..... As you can see, she's in the middle of a body make over. Thanks for all the insights you can give me..... Glad I found you guys/gals on the site !!!
  17. Pretty..... Nope, she was assembled in '70. Got the vin # checked, and an assortment of '71/ end of '70 run bits and pieces. The grill emblem was original, but read vxxi. on an egg crate grill. She's pretty close to the last of her batch.
  18. My '70 was assembled in Flint in Sept/70, and has them too...
  19. Fat fingers............... Tiny keys.............. lol
  20. Sorry... I meant Ronald... My bad. lol
  21. Hopefully Glen gets the keyway lined up the next time he tries......
  22. Is your differential supported or hanging ???? It tends to sway forward when you support the car by the frame..... Shortening the distance between the transmission and differential. try putting jacks up the differential.
  23. Yes, after taking a closer look, I see that it's a 700..... My bad..... lol.
  24. P.S. The T.V. cable is quite finicky if you've never set one before too.....
