  1. I've seen those on his show. Very nice, but pricy $$, plus the install...
  2. Anyone shaved the door handles? 'I' think it would add a subtle but clean custom touch.
  3. Well familiar with Canadian gallons. I rode my motorcycle from Florida to Hyder, AK, only reachable via Calgary to Stewart, BC. Canadian Rockies, beautiful country!
  4. So I guess I answered my own 'dumb' question! Put the MC in 2nd and it did shift from 1st to 2nd, presume the 200r4 will do the same. Stopped to fill up after this morning's cars & coffee and calculated mileage at 13.3! This tank had mostly 1 to 2 hour runs at 50 to 70 mph. I think I could have safely been in OD for 80% of those miles. Pretty sure I'll eventually do the trans swap and shift as needed.
  5. No such thing as a dumb question, right? How do you stay in 3rd gear? I have a B&M Megashifter that's scheduled to go in after paint & the bucket seats install. It's a rachet shifter with provision for 3 or 4 speed trans. If I put the trans in 3rd, will it shift 1, 2, 3 or try to start in 3rd?
  6. I think you hit the nail on the head! Found a post that listed final drive gear ratios with RPM's at 70mph. 273's at 70 would be running at 1800 RPM's. This post related to the swap with a base 350 like mine. OD kicking in at 45mph would severly lug the engine. A high torque stroker motor 'might' pull the higher ratio better. General consensus from that discussion felt 308's would be the highest acceptable ratio, with 331's most likely the best compromise for performance and economy. Now my mind wonders if a non locking converter would function OK, or just shift in and out if OD?🤔
  7. My '72 has the base 350 with 273 gears. Recently upgraded the 2 bbl to a Jeg's dual plane manifold with a 1405 Edelbrock. Also running long tube headers with Delta50 Flowmasters. Will a 200r4 OD lug too much with the 273's? Raise the lock-up to 50 mph? Maybe better without lock-up?

    trans swap

Questions for those who have done this 200r4 swap. Did you go with the lockup converter conversion? Does it make a major difference? From what I've seen online, the bracket for the TV cable seems similar, if not identical, to the 350 kickdown cable backet. True?
  9. Follow up: I had the 40's replaced with the Deltaflow 50's. Nice and quiet inside, no drone, and a healthy exhaust sound outside. My exhaust guy feels the H-pipe doesn't effect the interior drone, rather smooths the outside sound a bit. He's the one who stands to make $$ from that install, have to respect that. A test drive with the new mufflers confirmed his experienced opinion. 0 to 70 at full throttle, a 5 mile cruise at speed and I can hear my stereo without adjusting the volume! 😁
  10. They have a 10" one for $60, $10 more than the 12"!
  11. OPGI has the lighted 12" one for $100, the regular 12" one for$50. I don't need a $50 light! 😉
  12. Good point! The car is scheduled to go in for paint in March, I'll wait until then to attempt a fix. If it's a no go, a new one is ~$50.
  13. Thanks, let me know what you find when you have a chance. 👍
  14. When I flip my mirror from day to night, something inside the housing moves and all I can see is the headliner, no 'ghosted headlights' out the back window. I've tried this with the lever on both positions with the same result. The glass has a molding around it that seems to indicate it can come apart. Is there an adjustment inside the mirror?
  15. My 72 base 350 came with long tube headers, 2 1/4" pipes running to Flowmaster 40 series mufflers just in front of the rear axle.I has 2" pipe going over the axle leading into 3"diameter, 18" long chrome exhaust tips, no resonators. It is horribly loud and the interior drone is unbearable! My initial thought is to install an H pipe and replace the 40 seies with Delta 50 series mufflers. Should this be sufficient or do I need to add resonators in the back? Any muffler suggestions that would be quieter than the 40's, still sound healthy, but maybe a bit less $$?
  16. Replaced the rear main seal and oil pan gasket, motor in the car on jackstands. 3 days, that was fun!

    Headlights

I used these Hella 7" lights and some LED bulbs. Nice bright light with a flat cutoff pattern, I've not been flashed by oncoming traffic. They fit with no modification required. I've used Hella products for years on motorcycles. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005OULUQO/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  18. Hoping for a buyer for my '64 Valiant convertible to finance the Monte going to the painter!
  19. Yeah, it's just the rush when the secondaries kick in! Didn't get that with the 2bbl......
  20. Hey Scott, Running the stock TH350. Next project will be body& paint, as soon as I sell my Valiant convertible. Body is solid, but the car has the rear window vinyl top rust issues. Gonna farm that one out. I did finish the carb/manifold swap today, runs great, seat of the pants dyno says Vroom, Vroom!
  21. Thank you! 👍 I suspected as much, didn't want to start ripping and tearing indiscriminatly! 😉
  22. OK, I've ditched the spreadbore manifold and Holley in favor of a dual plane manifold originally sold by JEGS and a rebuilt Edelbrock 600 cfm. I have 2 questions on hooking up the carb. First, does the throttle cable just unsnap from the swivel ball? I have a new ball that bolts on the edelbrock, or do I have to drill the linkage to use the old ball? Second, I see where the kickdown cable adjusts, does it get set so it's at full travel with the throttle at full travel? This is where it was adjusted on the 2bbl carb. The new setup, almost done!
