  1. Fiberglass hood is a good place to start
  2. My 548 gets a robust 5-6 miles to the gallon!!!! A little better on the highway in overdrive. Horsepower and fuel mileage do not go together well.
  3. Your point is well taken Tim, but that's the difference between a 14 second and a 11-12 second car. At the track you want to be able to adjust in order to see if you can pick up any ET or MPH and timing plays a factor (as well as carb tuning, suspension, air pressure, etc). Its not uncommon to see a tenth or 2 gained by adjusting the curve or total timing. Scott
  4. Plus there is a big difference between analog and digital, no comparision. I'm fully digital now (crank trigger and distributor and digital 6), I've had both, regular and locked out and again there is no comparision when you put the timing light on it..analog jumps and digital says rock solid Scott
  5. Having the dizzy locked out is manly David, good job!
  6. Just so you know you only need a 10 point cage if you plan on going 9's or faster - 6-8 point good from 10.00 and up. Agree with others, have a professional do the installation
  7. Looks good David, I always like the billet look, I've always used March but the Alan Grove looks real nice
  8. I'm with you Jared - I love the "monster" tach - put mine right through my brand new reproduction dash pad - didn't hurt a bit
  9. C'mon David get her to the track already!!!!!
  10. Hey David, I have plenty of friends (with heavy cars) going real fast on these M/T drag radials, you'll have to air down to around 15-17 lbs at the track but they should hook hard - I have the 275/60/15 drag radials for the street now and they are way better then ET Streets I used to drive around on. Scott Just noticed that you were talking about M&H which I have no knowledge of and don't know anyone that uses them.....sorry
  11. That road is a disaster from all the trucks.....that's what the Ocean Parkway is for
  12. Trust me, the 270 cam would be on the mild side for a 454
  13. I ran a 72 truck block 2 bolt, cast crank, stock rods in my previous motor (454) pushing around 525 hp with never an issue with the short block. However, if everythings apart it never hurts to upgrade and have the added insurance. Someone once told me and I agree - there was a reason the General used 4 bolts and forged internals in their high performance motors
  14. Dart pro 1's no complaints - fully assembled for my roller cam and mild exhaust port work
  15. If you go with a Dart Big M block - standard height you can go up to 555 cubic inches with no issues. I shift around 6800... My engine is a 548 (30 over)
  16. Most guys running the 7AL box are race car guys, and you're going to have to upgrade your coil to the expensive one (MSD part 8251 or 8261) which is the HVC line of coils. I would say its overkill for your application. Because the box you have is worth good money, I would say go with the digital 6 plus, thats a box that you can grow into as you upgrade your ignition system.
  17. I have the Dart Pro 1 aluminum 325cc heads on my 548 - I would make the phone calls to both Dart and Airflow about your specific combo but my recommendation would be the 310cc heads
  18. That sucks Paul Time for Dart Pro 1's or AFR's is what I say!!!
  19. that is interesting going from 5.13 to 4.30 i thought you would gain MPH as well - is your converter set up for spray? that might explain the MPH as well Scott
  20. Very nice, that MPH is right for that ET - how much lower did you go on the gear?
  21. The Digital 6 box sounds a little much for your combonation, however its a good box to grow into (I'm a big of no longer spending money twice), if cost is a big factor the 6A or 6AL would be more then enough Scott
  22. Always trailer it to the track, drive it everywhere else
  23. Low Profile Billet Crank Trigger Distributor, Chevy V8 PN 84697 http://www.msdignition.com/dist_44.htm I have the slip collar model as its really low to the manifold (had my engine builder set it up)
  24. My friends 69 camaro - he has a big cubic inch small block (over 427 inches) weight around 3600lbs, with over 600hp. Actually he went this week to the track and went 10.90 on motor with unpinned drag radials. Like you I will have 2 sets of rims and tires.
