I have an Edelbrock 800 AVS. I rebuilt it and now it runs beautiful but the throttle will not return all the way. It comes back to very close, about 1100RPMs but I can then push it manually back to about 850. I don't believe the linkage is stuck or the plates are binding or hitting because if I shut the car off, I can literally watch the throttle linkage settle the extra 1/16" immediately. Then when I start it, it is back to normal until I rev it again. I also backed the choke off all the way while it was at the "high" idle and that didn't help either. I took the carb off and checked everything and it all seems good. Any thoughts?
One more thought, after manually pushing it back to the 850RPMs, when I back out the idle screw all the way, the car slows down and dies, which tells me again that I don't think anything is binding.
