  1. Glad to be of some help Terry
  2. Hi Duaine,I have the 2nd design brkts on both of the BB montes, the one in OPGI CH27881 is what mine looks like, the 1st design looks like it has 3 holes for mounting on the head where the other only has 2 like mine. The top mount over the valve cover shown CH28037 is also the 2nd design. Also I don't beleive they will interchange,my adj slots are on the bottom and I beleive the 1st design they are on the top. Terry
  3. I agree Dan,I hope you have everything back under control also hope the wife is ok . I'm looking for GM Carlisle next yr already,I missed that one with the car,(had them both regestered too) and Super Chevy too. This whole yr has been terrible for me,with the new engine breaking, lightning strikes, health and on and on,well it always could be worse I guess . Terry
  4. Glad it worked out for you Terry
  5. Hi Aaron,do you have one of those hand held digital temp readers. My dash gauge was reading hotter then the digital one,I carried it with me and checked it at different areas on the engine. Also American Auto Wire,"AAW" claims they have the "correct sending unit for our yrs, they have a threaded end for the wire to fasten too with a nut, they send an eye type, and a clip for other appiclations. The prt# for the gauge sending unit is #1513462. I bought one for each Monte ,I only replaced the one that was reading crazy and it seems to work great and the needle seems to be close with the digital hand reader. Also I run 180 deg stats on all my engines Terry
  6. Just catching up guys, pc has been down for 2 wks. I was there on Sat with the truck in bowtie Blvd,I did get to catch up with a few of you,I was coming back on Sunday with the Monte and sit around and chat with all but had car trouble 1/2 way there and turn around and took it home.It developed a loose noise in the front end but couldn't see where it was coming from. I was afraid to go any further without knowing . When I got it home and jacked up i found that a bolt and rubber bushing had came loose and fell out on the right upper control arm, they were recently all put new and even lock tighted them. This time we used the red lock tight instead of the blue.I was looking forwards to being there Sunday and spend some time with the members and admiring all those great Montes that were there. They all were very nicely done. Terry
  7. Try this guy Mike ,he's out of Senca Falls NY Gevo's Rears & Gears,He also sells posi units,I bought a rebuilt 2 series from him a few yrs ago. Eaton is my choice www.rearsgears.com PH# 315 568-9744
  8. Great ! They made a blue one for my Astro Blue Monte which came from the factory with a drk blue vinyl top .The grain, seams and color was perfect. They do cost a little more but if thats the way you want to go its worth it. Terry
  9. Very nice job Aaron, looks much better.A little here and a little there and in no time you'll be all finshed . Terry

    Time flies

Somehow I missed this Tony !They are such a sweet pair and in person as well. Alaina is a very sweet young lady too. The parents aren't too bad either Looking forwards to see you and the family this wk end. Terry
  11. Its only the nylon speedometer gears, one is on the main shaft and the other is on the end of the speedo cable not too bad to change. Terry
  12. I hear ya Tony,I don't like to tackle a big change close to any event,if something can go wrong it will .I think you'll be happy with the upgrade and the twin tire burn outs thats for sure You'll need to correct the speedometer, you won't like it being off ,I would expect 10-15 mi off at 50-60 mph. I just posted the place that can give you the right gears for Rock.Thats where I got mine ,they give you the correct drive gear and the driven gear, its easy to change the one on the trans shaft ,just need to drop the drive shaft and remove the tail section from the tranny and its held with a clip on your 350. Terry
  13. Try this Glen, they can give you the correct gears for your tranny, just call them and give them your tranny ,tire size, rear gears and they will figure out what you need. www.Transmissioncenter.com Ph #1 888-877-1008 Terry
  14. I remember Sam,I think they had to take it out and give it to GM for a complete overhall.I'm really greatfull that they are replacing mine. Yea Rob,I'm really surprised that they were so generous. Passing on Daveys advice and wisdom helped greatly. Terry
  15. Thanks Scott,They seem very concerned to make it right ,the broken engine will be out today ,my guy thats doing it only works on this stuff of mine after hrs when no ones around .won't get the new until this wk. Still won't be ready for GM Nats but the 454 will . The GM Rep said they will pay for what ever it takes to do the job, 2-3 cases of cold corona should be fair I'll see if Tony can break this one Terry
  16. Thanks Tony, I had them both reg,was going to drive 1 on Fri and the other on Sat.I'll still use the Gate and go pass on Fri with the truck or the 85 SS. No the 454 is out of warranty time wise,I think it was for 2 yrs but you can still drive it but with less caffeine this time Terry
  17. Great news Gm decided that its best to replace the 427 engine along with all the labor cost of remove/replace,plus all fluids ,everything thats needed to change them out even the R12 if the compressor has to be pulled again. They will pay for it all, even the time he had on checking it out last wk. Just some more paper work with a charge # for the GM dealer so they can send another engine. My guy Lou at the garage did well dealing with them.I'm greatfull that they did the right thing, even though I had high hopes but also low expectations. Looks like I'll have a Happy Fathers Day after all It won't be ready next wk for GM Carlisle but I have the other Monte,I had them both reg. Terry
  18. My nylon cam gear broke and did the same as yours,it was running great and suddenly shut off,I also had the smell of gas. This was on a 350/300 hp. Fixed the chain/gear ect changed the oil and later dropped the pan to clean up the broken nylon gear and also this was in the screen and had to be scraped out,(thats a table spoon)no oil change would get it all out. This is from the screen only, the pan had as much Good luck with yours. Terry
  19. Thanks Davey, point well taken. My friend at the garage where I bought it through and also installed the engine is talking to the rep that you're referring to,They wanted him to pull the head and he refused explaining to him that its a new engine and in a show car and repair isn't an option .I have to wait until he tries everything then if I'm not satisfied then I'll get involved and follow your advice. He's asking for a new engine and explained about my situation.I don't beat on it,also bought it for my 70th bday, have bought 4 crate engines from them ,only used for pleasure driving ect. Its hard not to be able to talk with this rep one on one but I'll wait for my guy to do all he can, they want to deal with the garage .I went through this with another engine that I bought instead of going through a garage and they danced me around for 3-4 months so I'm hoping with my guys approach will get me a replacement.I agree its a lot of BS on the rings Thanks. Terry
  20. I just got off the ph with my guy at the garage,GM wants all the paper work ,invoice, installation bill records of oil change ect,he wants to do a leak down test too.Just have to go through their BS and wait. I hope to hear this wk what they are going to do. Sam, Yes they are aluminum roller style. This hammering, banging ,missing and popping through the tail pipe happen a couple of wks ago , I reved it to 3000 and it straighten out until last wk when it happen again but didn't straighten out this time,I guess thats when it broke. Both times was on starting it up,and I didn't over rev it either times just fast idle. The tech said they like to have 2000 miles on it before they do anything about the oil consumption, I have 2,300 on it Stay tuned ! BTW Tony, The GM tech also wants a copy of that breakfast bill Terry
  21. Just a follow up on this pecking noise from back on first startup,I have been montering this light noise for awhile and it hasn't seemed to get any worse, the noise was coming from the right bank and it has been some smoke coming from the same tailpipe also it has been using a lot of oil ,this is running easy and not punching on it much. Well last wk when I started it up in the morning it started hammering, banging and missing badly.I didn't rev it when it was cold just on fast idle only when it started. We pulled a cover hoping a rocker broke or maybe see one that wasn't moving but all looked fine so we pulled the plugs and # 2 and #6 was wet. We used the camera down in the cylinders and down thru a hole in the heads looking for a lifter that broke ect but seen nothing. We saw a lot of garbage on the valves in the 2 cylinders but still don't know what broke. At this time Im waiting on my guy that installed the engine also ordered it from GM to call about the warranty ect. We are wanting a new replacement and not to repair this one, tiny pcs of metal is evedent in the oil laying in the head and its likely thru out the engine.I hoping for them to send another 427 out so I'm holding my breathe This engine only has 2,300 easy miles . This all happen after Tony drove it "J K " Tony Terry
  22. Yes you did Mark,I read it between ther lines Terry
  23. Thanks Mark,You're close. I just tried them with my 770 Holley and to avoid much trimming it needs to go gasket, lrg plate ,gasket, small plate, gasket, small plate and gasket. The carb needs to be as far away from the bottom lrg plate and I only need to trim for the fast idle screw arm, when you open the throttle it hits the outer edge of the small plates/gasket. I'll check it again after the trimming is done for any more obstructions. Will likely install it in a day or two,Thanks again. Terry
