  1. The water pump is the only accessory I don't have so that's not a problem. Bought a new power steering pump last year at carlisle and now an alternator this year.
  2. Has anyone done a serpentine setup on a big block? I've been looking at March but the only set I like which is the black pulley set is said to not fit a body cars due to steering box placement. I'm not a big fan of lots of chrome so was looking for something a little more subtle.
  3. Get a label by the fuel door saying "Depleted uranium and small children only"
  4. Good thing he has those 3 point belts. He parked his car upside down.
  5. I'm in that same group. Bought a one wire alternator at carlisle. 80 amp model. Definitely going to check that website out to figure out what i need to do to get it to work.
  6. Got back from Carlisle sunday and bought some bits for the 454. Air Cleaner and a 1 wire 80 amp alternator.
  7. Wow that sucks. Considering your old pc worked fine something definitely isn't right. Sounds to me like it's either drivers for the Ethernet card or a a hardware failure on the new pc. The guy who built it should have been able to test that functionality before he gave it to you. Good luck.
  8. Seems to decode as a 72-78 car or truck motor. 2 bolt. Any thoughts on the carb and intake? I have been tempted to use a similar carb on the 350 though I think it was either a 1406 or 1407 not sure which.
  9. OK this is what I've got to work with. I read that as 3999289 Thats a 1406. I will have to take a valve cover off to get the head casting.
  10. I'm have to look again about the year. The guy I bought it from tells me it has been modified but isn't sure what's in it. It sounds stout and gets good oil pressure. Outside of that I'm not sure. I've been meaning to find an electric fan setup from a mark iv Lincoln as they have a good stock fan shroud that pulls decent air. Would like to eliminate the pulley mounted fan system. Just getting hard to find. Radiator is a 3 core copper one though I'm not against upgrading it. My front springs are the original ones and they sag with just the small block. I'm sure this motor has cast heads so perhaps in the future I may upgrade to aluminum.
  11. So I'm picking up a 454 locally some time in the next 2 weeks. It doesn't come with any brackets, accessories or mounts. It is complete otherwise pan to carb. I'm looking to mount it to my TH350. Anyone know what I will need to make this swap happen? I do have to replace my front springs and shocks as well as my inner fenders so this came at a good time. Is it worth putting my stock alternator on? I have a replacement power steering pump so thats good to go though not sure if they differed from sb to bb. I would assume just brackets change.
  12. Sounds like heat soak. Stock starter? Might be on its way out.
  13. I say 7 pro as well. Its stable, fast and compatible with everything. Ive tried 8 and just dont care for it. For computers not running a touch screen i think it was a big mistake to push 8 onto everying. Perhaps its good for those that have trouble seening the icons or not tech savvy but the way you navigate 7 and under has been more or less unchanged since 95. Why fix whats not broken? I have xp on my wifes computer(my old machine) and it still works great and starts up in 45 seconds using a stripped down version of xp pro.i will hopefully be able to continue using it though as im not sure of how well 7 would work on that hardware. Just my 2 cents.
  14. Tomorrow I will be the proud owner of a bouncing baby 454. Friend of my dad's is selling his at a price I couldn't pass up. Will definitely be at home between the fenders in the monte. Something I've been looking for for quite some time but couldn't find one at a price I could afford. Then after that I hope to have a really bouncing baby. My wife is 9 months pregnant and is due in the next 2 weeks so I will have my hands full in the months ahead.
  15. I've lost an aunt to it as well as my mother being a survivor so far. Sad thing is she continues to smoke so all I can do is shake my head. Her mother is in the later stages of breast cancer from the same thing. From what I've heard, she let it go too long and quite possibly has given herself a short time to live.
  16. Dropped my car off at my parents to go into storage. Then today picked up one of those Chinese triple plated rear bumpers that Tamraz had on with free shipping and my ragjoint to finish my jeep steering box swap. Guess I'm not doing that stuff till next year.
  17. LOL if I can. They are bent pretty good now from hitting stuff. That's how I noticed.
  18. Exactly why I was looking for a stock height part number. The big chain stores that I've seen have one spring for small block and one for big block. Not exactly the variety I was looking for. One thing I wish the muffler shop had done was when they used the U-clamps to attach the headers to the exhaust was to put the U part facing the side and not down. When I do rub on speed bumps its usually those threaded rods that take the hit.
  19. Do these count as extremely long? I'm not averse to changing headers if I have to. Just means I have to get some extra pipes made to make up the difference if the replacement would be shorter. I've read that our cars are a bit trickier to get good fitment.
  20. oh yeah. I have the rag joint to complete my replacement steering box as well. Hope to have more responsive steering soon. Bought the rag joint and the press in fittings to go with the 98 Jeep box from Lee Engineering. Very helpful people.
  21. I did replace all shocks a few years ago. Not sure if the brand though. I looked at the offerings from hotchkis last night and what scares me about the 1" drop is in already scraping my headers on stuff. Considering the springs I have now are I think original will I still end up with increased height with the drop springs?
  22. Question for the people who have purchased front coils for a 71 no AC. Any part numbers? I've found multiple numbers that don't say if its for AC or no AC. Still have the stock ones and they bounce like crazy and sit really low.
  23. Hah how did I miss that you said the same thing? That's what I get for typing that out on my phone while walking the dog.
  24. Finally had finalize the dipstick install. So far no leaks! Maybe I can drive again?
  25. You can try testing by disconnecting the cable at the trans and using a drill spinning the cable. With the car off try different gears. If it still does it its in the speedo.
