  1. Just a FYI - I don't need to see your Build Sheet, just your acknowledgment that you have one. Purpose is just to avoid duplication with enough info. I may have phrased that earlier incorrectly as I have been queried on making me copies of their Build Sheet............... Again, the more detailed info about your vehicle as offered on the Spreadsheet helps prevent duplication. Periodically I will Post the spreadsheet data after revisions, additions, exclusions etc. are compiled and will be the latest information at that point. Double check your info and alert if inaccurate where and the fix................... This is a little surprising to see this many Customs as I had never really knew how many were in the Club. So having (8) in the Club currently, (1) non member and one I know to be in Canby, Oregon, we are of to a GREAT start.... We'll get em sniffed out eventually................. Doug
  2. No problem Eric. I have updated your new info. What size motor & transmission (if you would like that added). You are correct that with comfort tilt steering you also get the 4 spoke sport wheel. Doug
  3. Okay guys, I have a rough draft for your review. So much info I improvised getting it all on one page. Acronyms are at bottom of pic in case you have trouble deciphering them. Fonts are small so you may need to zoom in to see or print it out. It is somewhat unorthodox, again due to the amount of info I included. Let me know what you think and please, if any ideas, do offer them up. Also, I am thinking that starting a new thread where just that info found could be posted and only for those finds. It will make it much easier for me to follow than having a lot of commentary with those cars identified. As long as it came from the factory as a Custom (Z03) equipped, modifications are not important as long as verifiable. If there are any questions, refer them to me so we can work through those problems. While I intend to manage the info, I am relying on each to proof your data and advise if inconsistent so I can make those needed adjustments. I am sure the guidelines will become more clear to all as we proceed' For now, simply look over the spreadsheet, determine how it is laid out to make it easier to follow. Any questions, please do. While I am mostly in and out during the day, there is a Swap Meet coming up next Wednesday thru Sunday I will be attending as we have a Booth there for all day each day and will not have much if any time during that period to respond to questions. Don't get disheartened, I will get back to you when I have the time. Once Swap Meet is over, I will be more back to normal again until the Car Shows start lining up. Thanx all,. Doug
  4. Appreciate that Willie. I am currently constructing a Excel Spreadsheet that hopefully I can get as much info into as possible/practical. When I am comfortable all the pertinent info is included, I will make a photo on the Scanner and Post it for you guys to inspect & then can inform me of omissions or erroneous info for those who see misinformation on their/others Cars.. A bit of a challenge trying to get enough space for all that info so had to change font size & use abbreviations for some of the features. I have noted at the end of those what the abbreviations stand for and not close to being the final Draft so bear with me. Again a work in progress! Any ideas, criticisms or otherwise always appreciated. I am relying on the Club membership to help by identifying any Customs found anywhere and as much info as can be provided. Our Membership has a International Reach as well as Nationally, so it is my belief we as a Club can come up with a educated number based on the info given. Of course, it will be never ending until we can say absolutely no more Customs survived!! You can use my email (camerondl@q.com) as well as the Private Message along with this Post as a way to communicate. For those with Customs, I am leaving it up to each one in providing what info they want Posted based on the format provided, otherwise it will not show in Spreadsheet and ONLY I at this time will make any and ALL changes based on documented communication and your expertise in determining if a valid Addition. If unsure, I will take the reins and attempt to contact (if possible) the owner & see what they can contribute. Doug
  5. I will attempt to get an update from him & thanx. Doug

    71 SS

That looks awesome Joe! When should I bring mine over for you to do? Doug
  7. Just as a reminder, If you notice, see or hear of any during your travels, please take a moment to document car for this spreadsheet. Everyone within our Club who comes up on a 72 Custom is encouraged to participate. This will be an ongoing process as will likely only find them periodically. Again thanx for all your help in identifying and locating them.................. When I have enough info and a good representation of the Excel Spreadsheet, I will see how/if/can post it for your review, ideas and or suggestions. Doug
  8. Thank you Mike. Will see how all that info will work on a Excel Spreadsheet. This is the type of info that will help ensuring no duplication's. Doug
  9. I have seen Cory's Custom on this Forum and yes it's very nice! Thanx for reminding me.................... Doug
  10. Hi Keith, here is a pic with the shoulder belt cover hiding the individual retainers that nest the shoulder belts. I'm not near the car so can't provide much more than this. Others will offer you better info I'm sure. I would think there are holes already made to secure the clips in place and should be self explanatory unless they had been filled, never were or hidden where you can't notice the predrilled holes. Just a thought. On another note - I am compiling info in hopes of coming up with a educated guesstimate on how many 72 MC Customs are still out there that are considered restorable and not counting scappers, donors or otherwise will never will be road worthy. I made this request recently to the Membership and am hoping that anyone whenever they see, hear or read about the 72 Custom (that are again, road worth) am asking that info be directed either in my thread under 454 SS and 72 Customs where you can read more. PM's and email also work! If you don't mind, I will add your car to my data base and any future info provided on your car or other Customs you may come across. In order to not duplicate, enough info would be beneficial to sewparate one from the other. How sofisticated that data base is will be a work in progress and hopefully a nice tool for us Custom owners. I believe there are not very many around anymore and may compete with the 70/71 454 SS as far as rarity. Congrats on your selection of the Custom.................... Doug
  11. If parted out, the information is mute. Only those vehicles that are still considered restorable even if not running are eligible.. Doug
  12. Thanx Willie. I don't expect to be able to track them all but come up with a informed representation. Having enough info so as not to duplicate any finds is optimal. Considering our reach as a Car Enthusiast Web Site, I believe with help, we can come up with current numbers that closely represents those cars. I know of (2), one that was sold here in Oregon and another that periodically shows up on Craigslist. I will check those Ad's placed in our Forum and see what I can glean from them for Custom ad's. You don't have to be there to verify, any info seen, read or heard that can be verified. I will attempt to break down the data supplied. Once most/all had seen this, I think this could be a very useful Project for the Club. Doug
  13. I wish I had considered this several years ago but it came to me again that I should be recording those 72 Customs that show up from time to time in order to track available quantities. Having a place where we can document them all in one place would be optimal and I am willing to act as the axes for (with your help) documenting all sightings with both pic's and or Ad's' Having info if with Build Sheet, Vin Numbers if available would be beneficial. Doesn't matter if fully customized or all the way to stock. Finding out as close as possible how many are still in existence is my goal. Those within the Club who own Customs, please share your info as the Base for this quest. Any and all suggestions appreciated. I will attempt to categorize them in groups that match closest to each other. Example - With Build Sheets would be one category, along with engine size ect. ect. Let me know what kind of support I can expect in order to establish how many still in existence. I am Dog watching this week and in and out but will be back to normal around here come Sunday. No other commitments until April 4 thru the 8th for the Portland PIR Swap Meet at the race track. Anyone attending are welcome to stop in and visit. We will be set up on the West end of the (can't spell it) turn out on main straight away. I will provide space numbers when I get that info. Aftyer that I'm good til near the end of April for a day or two. Just letting you know this so not to think I am being unresponsive, just busy at the moment. I am serious about wanting to establish some numbers to better reflect their rarity. Thanx for the support and looking forward to your questions and advise. Doug
  14. You should be able to reference Differential websites like Rand'ys Ring & Pinion (example). Both are 3 Series so should interchange. Not certain about the axles or if even factory rear axle. Doug
  15. Were they stickers Paul? I remember seeing something quite similar on eBAY that were on Rally Caps. Doug
  16. Here is a pic or two with the wire looms now hiding most of the wiring inside them. Doug
  17. Hey all, Spent the last few days completing my LED Tail Lights (they look awesome), fixed the loose Monte Script on passenger side Sail Panel, completed adding plastic wire loom(s) to clean up under Hood & this was a 1st for me, Pin Striping my Rally Caps & Beauty Rings. I have a dash of red showing under the hood and my seat belt pads, so decided I would experiment & see what it would look like with the red Pin Stripe on Caps & Rings. I have also been preparing to try to repair some paint chips that I have read up on how too do & gathering the items that hopefully will help me do a adequate job (News at Eleven)! Here is a couple pic's of Pin Striping. This was the best Presentation look I thought! Doug
  18. The Bumper Guards were an option & not standard equipment, so don't believe that any Bumpers were pre drilled. I replaced my rear Bumper and had to drill out the Bumper for my rear Bumper Guards. Not that big of a deal really. Doug
  19. I'm sure I could get them from :Leo Konick if I get desperate and will check Ant Motorsports if they show up on eBAY. Thanks guys, ps. Just bought a kit from eBAY that covers other screws that could be beneficial to have extras for. We will see just how close to original they are. Doug
  20. Never had to do that but I'm guessing the 2 door panels & rear Interior quarter panels will have to come out. The rear seat will have to come out for the rear seat panels to be removed. Only other thing is that they are glued onto the exterior body panels which I would find highly unlikely. Doug
  21. It is a #8X18X3/4" Phillips Head Screw used 7 places each side on securing ornamental Tail Light Hardware & Lenses. They are common all 7 places that have a smaller head diameter than found on other similar screws. The Head Size looks to be the determining factor. I don't have a pic but will see if I can make a good pic of one and post it later. Doug
  22. Appreciate that Dan. Looked through AMK Products as Keith had suggested. A couple possibilities but will need to get a set of Calipers from my brother to measure screw dimensions (Looks to be an 8X18X3/4 Flush Head). These appear to be specific for our 1st Gens? Doug
  23. I did try my local ACE Hardware and their selection is awesome as well. I found a couple that were close but the screw heads diameter were to big. I thought they would be available from someone. Thanx guys & Dennis for excellent info. I'm sure I will find something................... Doug
  24. Hey all, Put in my LED Tail Lights & want to replace tail light hardware screws with a complete new set. Any ideas where I might find them? Done some searches but as yet, no joy! I would consider used if screws are in excellent condition (7) per side & were these originally Stainless?. Were these specific to our Montes or should I look at other GM vehicles also? Doug
  25. I think the steering column has to drop down but doesn't have to be removed. Never took mine out to add Cruise Lever/wiring. Doug
