  1. I have KYB's from Summit on mine, one started to leak out and Summit replaced it free since it was 11 months old on a 1 year warranty. I lucked out and noticed the leak just in time.

    454 question

You could have saved a ton of time if you would have found a car with AF RPO, it is the autographed firewall option, problem was that you have to order the NO A/C option so there was enough room for all the line workers to sign it.

    454 question

Until the next one of a kind surfaces, it will be at a Barrett Jackson auction some time next year.
  4. I have the seat mounts done and did a trail fit while I had the carpet out and it is perfect for me, but then I have been accused of being a knuckle dragging neanderthal so arm length shouldn't be a issue. I'll post more pics as the work moves ahead.
  5. I finally had some time to get back to work on the SS, my wife had to have some minor surgery so I was cooking, cleaning and taking care of her for a couple of days and then I got sicker than a dog but am feeling better now. Sucks to get old I tell ya. Anyways I got the seats out the carpet up and scraped all the old tar paper they used from the factory up off the floors. Surprised at how nice the were after 40 years. Only some minor surface rust and a little flaking in the wire harness tray. I cleaned the floor up and gave it a coat of paint and when it dries good I'll start laying down the sound deadener and carpets. I also install the new shifter gate I ordered from Shift Works, I like it a lot.
  6. I am 6'2" and built like a lineman so as I have aged some of my bulk has settled and I have been having a hard time entering and exiting the Monte. Now I know why I love my 09 Silverado so much. I have removed the seat tracks and built new brackets that have lowered and moved the drivers seat back 2 inches in both directions making it easier to fit behind the wheel and see out the windows without having my head hit the headliner. I have this part done and it turned out perfectly. The seat will be fixed so anyone shorter than 6' will find it hard to reach the pedals, to bad the wife is 5'2". But she has her 83 SS to drive. I ordered some new carpet and sound proofing material from Summit this morning. I need to replace the seat foam in the seats as it is crumbling with every use of the car, I find chunks if it under the seat so I will be ordering some from Legendary on Monday morning. I tried to go cheap when I redid the interior a few years back even though I knew better. I also ordered the ratchet gate for the horseshoe shifter from Shiftworks this morning. I'll post up some pics as I work through this mod in the coming month. Here she is before I started.
  7. What's a original set worth these days? Yes I do have them and yes they could be bought.
  8. The rear coil over is a quality piece from Detroit Speed and engineered for our cars and will hold up well. To the OP man you have really raised the bar and built a really nice car, great job.
  9. In my talks with Strange on my S60 rear end now I am finding out the upper mounts are located 15/16's of a inch higher so they suggest using adjustable upper trailing arms. Oh well I kind of wanted to put the Hotchkis arms on anyways. All in all this swap is going to run around $3600 either way. Strange S60 with 35 spline Tru track 2294.50 Driveshaft with 1350 joints and yoke. 296.00 Hotchkis rear arms 670.00 MP big brake kit 499.00 Moser set up similar to S60 30 spline 3100.00 with the MP big brakes Hotchkis kit 670.00
  10. Right now I have manual brakes with a 1 inch master cylinder. They work fine but I have been toying with the idea of adding a hydro boost unit to it. Mike I checked your pictures at your cardomain site and saw how you did the tee looks good and if it worked for you it should work for me. Hey nice Monte by the way. Thanks
  11. Thanks for the reply, I have the same problem with limited vacuum, so how did you plumb the returns? Did you add a nipple to the reservoir or use a tee? Did you do a write up thread on the install here?
  12. Anyone running a hydro boost unit on their Monte, if so what brand did you buy and do you like it?
  13. Pretty neat thanks for sharing.
  14. I am in the process of buying the Strange S60 and will have 12 bolts parts for sale pm me for items. Anyways I have found the S60 will require a new driveshaft because the yoke will not be in the same place as the 12 bolt, so just a heads up for anyone thinking about going with a S60 or even a 9 incher you will need a different length driveshaft before all is said and done.
  15. Yours should fit in front of the clock my monster tach does.
  16. Ya I have to admit I was having a hard time with the pic but I knew what the hammerhead looked like so I accepted not being able to see it.
  17. 72MC when did they start making those? They look like they would take all the work out of the job if you know what I mean. Thanks for the tip.
  18. Darn I missed the stripper thread, anyone have a link?
  19. Joe I have set up quite a few myself, if you were closer I would do it for you, but if you need help just shoot me a p.m. with any questions you might have. Here is a list of tools you will need. dial indicator to measure backlash micrometer to measure the carrier and pinion shims 1 1/8 inch 3/4 inch drive 6 point socket a long 3/4 inch breaker bar with a 3 foot cheater pipe to go over the end a 3 foot pipe wrench used to hold the yoke while tightening pinion nut to collapse the crush washer As you can see unless your going to do these on a regular basis it is cheaper to have a good shop do the set up if you don't have the tools already.
