  1. Thanks but I only want to do this once and don't want to mess up. Originally Posted By: Mike 57 Rodney, Pulling the engine is not a tough job but it can get messy. If you don't have the space the 200 extra is not a bad price. Well my hood and fenders are already off so the engine and trans should be able to come out together right?+- Originally Posted By: bobsmc if you pull the engine then you will be putting it back to.right? the 200 extra will go along way when it comes to the start up and adjusting of the valve train etc. i would let him do all of it for that benifit alone. thats if i understand your agreement. jmo. bob Hey Bob I think he's gonna start and adjust everything on the engine stand. Yes I will be putting the engine back in. My Monte is in pieces and I wanted to get this part done before painting. I might just have the car taken out to him.
  2. Hey all I am going to be getting my engine work done real soon. I am going to be getting the Cam done, stall converter, and shift kit. If I pull the engine and trans and take it to my friend, he's going to charge me $350. If I take the whole car then it would be $550. My question is; How difficult is it to pull our engines out of our Montes? I am willing to go for it and pull the engine. Should I leave the headers on the engine when I pull it? Once again this is a friend of mine fresh out of auto tech school and has started his own speedshop and is a well recognized and stand up guy. I am waiting for him to send me some videos of his Nova. I will post one as soon as I get it. Thanks Everyone.... Rodney
  3. Hey David here are the CAM SPECS
  4. I got new valve springs that the cam calls for. Everything that I got is recommended Comp Cam products. Springs, Lifters and I got some Scorpion full Roller Rockers. I will get some Comp Cam Push rods,
  5. Hey Scott the job is going very well. Nice grille!! I called on it and they said it was sold already. Can't wait to see the pictures!!
  6. Are you ready to profit Dennis?!!
  7. Is this the grille you got Grille Link

  9. I am wanting to detail the grille with black in between spaces but I need to see an original untouched one to go by. What rear pieces are you speaking of?
  10. Well I got my pieces back today. I've got to detail the grille some but overall I think they turned out OK. Here are some pictures:
  11. Is it necessary to change them when doing a cam?
  12. I only have pics of the drivers door. I got the passenger door mirror all set up to go on but I am replacing the door itself and haven't got around to doing it yet. I had to grind the aluminium mirror base housing to get the mirror to sit at the proper angle. Easy to do just takes a little time and I had to oblong the original holes in the door for the mirror studs to fit. Then you have to reach into the tight crevice inside the door and put the nuts on the threaded stud of the mirror and simply tighten the mirror to the door. My replacement passenger door is fully loaded with power windows and locks and it's got holes in as if there was a mirror on it already so it should be a breeze to put the mirror that I have on it.
  13. I made some mirrors from an 84 Cutlass work on my Monte. Here is the Link
  14. Well my car is really no where near being ready for paint. I just wanted to get some opinions on the clear since this is what my cousin swears by. He actually wanted me to start this thread. I have told him your opinion and he is going to call some of his old customers and see if everything is still holding up.
  15. Thanks guys for the comments. Thanks Tony. I've seen some of the cars my cousin did with this clear and it really does have an extreme wet look at all times but I haven't seen any car with it down the line. So your opinion really counts here as you have seen the aftermath. But I have a question, Could said results have been from lack of someone not taking care of their car ie washing, waxing and so forth? I will not be driving the Monte in messed up weather at all.
  16. It says it's high solids. This is what my cousin uses. He likes it.
  17. I bet driving your Monte is all the therapy you need right now Rob
  18. Rob it sits in front of the housing just like the original on our Montes. I haven't tried a spring on it yet.
  19. I got the perches in the mail today and I really thing I'm going to be all set with these. I laid them on the axle and it's going to be a perfect fit. Here is a picture of the actual spring perch:
  20. Mike I don't have any answers for you, but all I can say is that I am glad it all worked out for you in the long run. Congrats!!!
  21. Sorry everyone I know this is an old thread but I wanted to ask everyone if i could get these perches to work on this BOP rear that I got back in 2011? Here is the Ebay Listing
  22. The switches are different. They look the same but the mounting tabs are different. The one for the column has like offset mounting tabs while the one for the console the tabs goes straight with the half moon shape of the switch.
