  1. Mike Boyte hes from south carolina. his monte didnt make the trip last summer but did the summer before. does anyone have a picture of Mikes grill or Mikes car for that matter its beautiful.
  2. Ask Rodney he had his done and came out real nice. We have a guy in the club (his name escapes me right now) from sc that had his grill done and its perfest but it was like 2 or 3 grand.
  3. Looks good its nice to find lots of good metal after its stripped
  4. Joe ask that guy how many rotors they turn any more, most of the new guys dont even really know how to use the rotor lathe, and most wouldnt think of rebuilding anything anymore. Its quicker and easier and more profitable to replace everything.
  5. I just suggested that to keep the media out of there while blasting it.
  6. No I looked around Bruce and I found it still in the package I guess I just forgot to put it in.
  7. Bolt the rear cover right back on that way it will take care of that big hole. Also ask them if they have any kind of caps to cover the axel and pinion holes they may. But blow and flush the inside out when you get it back anyhow.
  8. Thats good info to know ck thanks I wrote that down I may do mine this year too but not sure yet depends on the other projects and how far my daughter goes over budget on her wedding.
  9. Tom try not to break this one up as bad as the last one, just kiddin. that was bad i've never seen one do that. glad you got it back together.
  10. Now im wondering if someone ground that that way to use the upper hole that they drilled because it sat at the wrong angle due to the position. Im assuming the put it there to get more lift out of it. It never ceses to amaze me the dumb things people do.
  11. There is normally only 1 hole there someone added one of them at some point. Just make sure there is enough shock travel up and down and check it every once in a while to make sure its stays good and tight but it should work as long as it dosent rip the bottom of the hole out due to to much pressure.
  12. Hmmmm I could have swore I replaced the flasher I remember buying it a couple years ago and thought I replaced it when I replaced all the exterior lights, Guess i'll have to check and see if its still kicking around. Duh
  13. Check your wires the power wire in in the trunk drivers side its brown and goes down through the rear of the trunk to the sending unit. The ground attaches to the front of the trunk pan. Check for corrosion on both. I got my sending unit from OPG was nice quility but just make sure they have it in stock before you order it.
  14. there both the same, the old one was loose at some point in it life thats why that happned. Use the new one it is correct.
  15. The ones I have I got right from snap on but I think they may be an off brand possably kd I cant remember I've had them for years.
  16. Should be a regular head bo;t unless someone put something else in there. I've never seen anything other than a regular head bolt there. The caliper pins are 3/8 allen.
  17. Done many calipers, its not that bad but there some special tools required. Air is a must to remove the piston and remember dont try to stop the piston when coming out with your hand that hurts real bad, put a block of wood in there. make sure the bleeder screw comes loose first. after you get the piston out inspect it and the housing very carefully, any pitting its junk. remove all the old seals and Clean everything up and real good. Install the square cut o-ring and install the boot (outer seal) on the piston. useint the old pad press the piston back in with the piston installer tool then put the outer part of the seal on with the seal installing tool. Install all the new o-rings and bushings. all seals HAVE to be installed with silicone lube, some use spray I use paste thin layer does it. Its not that bad depending on how the old ones are. good luck, Steve
  18. You may have one or two to rockers loose recheck the adjustment. i doubt its the valves hitting the pistons because it wouldnt run very long like that.
  19. Pulled the grill out Friday night and cleaned it up and preped for paint. Masked it off from the front and painted it from the back side (as someone suggested) with black semi gloss so the front of the fins are still chrome, came out good. Today I found out that the control arm bushings are not bad but the alignment shims fell out from the left side so an alignment will be in order in the spring. Also pulled the starter out to see what the problem with that was and found the selonide bolts loose, im suprised it started at all. Thats just another thing that I have found that the previous owner messed up. It seems like every problem I have had was because he did something wrong or short cutted the repair with inferior parts or shotty work. That was an easy fix I pulled it all apart cleaned it all up put it back together and its as good as new. Next I have to get the alt. and get that on and check the cd player to see why that was messing up the last day out.
  20. Hello Kevin and welcome to the site. If you have 7 inch rims on the car now putting some 60s on it are no problem I think 255 60 is the biggest you can go on 7 inch rims properly. No rims are really cheep and some can get real expensive depending what you want. Summit and Jegs has a decient selection of rims and there prices arent that bad. Good luck.
  21. If the cables are the oe style with the metal shield around the outside you could try to spray them down with something like pb blaster, then work them back and forth, if they have the plastic shield (aftermarket) that wont work. You have to find out which one or all is sticking. Replacement is not really fun but not the end of the world.
  22. Another thing to think about without the pump assist the steering box will wear out and develop slop in it. It may take a while but thats another thing to think about. I had a 60 dodge back in the day the pump went bad and I just kept driving it and after a few months of street driving there was about 3 inches of play in the steering wheel was getting hard to drive but then I blew the motor up so I junked it.
