  1. The ones on mine were screwed on. The center plastic peice was kinda pressed in and was also color coded to the car color. I removed mine and filled the holes as I changed the color of the car and I really didnt like it.
  2. Im chasing the same issue I was told possable ground problem but I havent found it yet. Check to see if the front side markers are blinking also, someone said they are suppose to be and mine are not eather. I have to trace the wire to find the ground that may be it. I just havent taken the time to track it down but its one of my winter projects this year.
  3. I had a flat at the show that I do this past summer and I had the bumper jack with me and a spare too but I sent someone to my house to pick up my floor jack because I wasnt about to use the bumper jack. Luckly I was close to home. I guess if I really had to I would have very carefully.
  4. Yup I do first one is the old 225 70 15 second is the new 255 60 15 same rims they fit under there very nicely no rubbing issues at all I think I could have gotten away with 275s if I went with a 8 inch rim but the funds werent there for the rims. Maybe next year.
  5. Hey Jim long time no see how ya been. I have 255 60 15 Mickey Thompsons on 7 inch rims on mine fit great on rear.
  6. I used a flat gasket along with the o ring that came with it and put a thin layer of silicone rtv on the flat gasket with no problems. I am going to change it again as the chrome is starting to peel a bit.
  7. Darren what is that plate that sits under the carb, I dont ever remember seeing anything like that before. Is that a big block thing or something added on?
  8. Check the mesurements on the wheels you have on there the rears do look wider than the fronts in your sig picture. You may find that they are the same size as the ones your looking at and if so you know they will fit. If not you may have to take some measurements to see what will fit. Im pretty sure when I checked mine that 275 60 15s with 8 inch rims and 4 1/2 bs would have worked but ran low on funds so I just replaced the rear tires with 255 60 15s on the 7 inch rims.
  9. Sounds like it may be a tooth off possably.
  10. What about the polishing of the heads, I was told years ago that polishing heads on a street driven car was a wast of money because they are just going to get carboned up anyhow. Polishing is good for race driven cars only. Is that true or just an old wifes tale?
  11. I noticed that the frame ground strap is attached to the upper mounting bolt of the idler arm and im going to move it over to the frame. The ground cable from the battery is attached to the lower altranator bracket. Should I move that from there to the block and can I attach both cables to the same place on the block? Or dosent it really make that big a difference. thanks in advance, Steve
  12. Welcome to the site from just a little south of you. Good luck with your project.
  13. Check the wires that go throught the door too 40+ years of flexing they can break.
  14. Got mine turned around in the garage today and got it all jacked up to start the bushing replacement and found that they dont need replacement. So now it just looks like altranator replacement and im going to pull the starter and pull it apart and check it. I think it just needs a good cleaning but going to check it over good. Some more cleaning and more detailing and i'll be ready to go in the spring.
  15. If I remember correctly mine said that too and it didnt work so I did it the other way like in the old days.
  16. Yea I just went and looked at mine the green gos to the negitive side of the coil.
  17. Dosent the green wire go to the negitive side of the coil? im pretty sure it does.
  18. The vinyl top can be removed, mine never had it and I left it that way. Another idea is to 2 tone it painted to look like a vinyl roof like Robs that I like better than the vinyl top. And I aggree about the big wheels they just dont look natural. 16 or maybe 17 is about the biggest I would even think about. But on mine 15 is all I will ever do. Just my opnion.
  19. I used the cc501 on mine and it picked it up nearly 2 inches but my old springs were really weak (still orig) 40 years old. Normally when you line a cc up next to an oe spring the cc is a bit shorter due to the heaver coils. On mine the cc were about an inch longer due to the excessive wear in the old ones. Thats how I got that ammount of lift. Cargo coils are not designed to lift the rear but to keep it at the stock height and hold it there better with extra weight in the rear. I would have to check at my buddys shop to see what the listings are for the elcamino. Hope that helps a bit.
  20. I used the variable rate and very happy with them. It sits up where its suppose to and can handle when I load it up with camping stuff for out of town weekend shows where camping is available. Different angles but before and after.
  21. I thought about doing mine purple. like the purple on the 07 Monte I think it was but I ended up with the blue and havent looked back. Not 1 person has said they didnt like the color.
  22. I understand and yes 35 bucks each for them is cheep even if the shipping is the same price. But my thinking is you really dont need to compress the springs to change the spindles, only just support the lower control arm with a jack or stand. I hate doing springs. I think I would rather do body work as much as I hate that but its much safer. I had a couple close calls doing springs back when I was flat rate. Good luck bro.
