Its is a real gm hei I have a spring and weight kit but I don't mess with the heis that ofton so I would have no clue ware to start in my last motor I was running a old school dual points Set up

What should i set the Initial timing at on the Monte? Is a mild 383 .030 over with a 268h comp cam other then that its stock besides headers and roller rockers ect... Its a new HEI gm distributor

Most headers will fit a Monte carlo,Headers for Chevelles 1964-1977,Camaro 1967-1981,1970-1977 Nova/ChevyII and all full size B-body cars 1968-1979 some might have to be dinged to clear the steering shaft but they work

Ya with the radical cam in my chevelle i had no power brakes so i took the booster off less weight lol

Not mild more like stock or factory

Now your talking but a well built 383 will keep up with mild big block and its way lighter but a all out big block is the way to go

383 set up is one of the best things you can do to your 350 to get the max power out of it, it don't get much better then a 383 in small block land

very nice sounding but yours is also a 383 so don't be expecting the same nice rumble with the same cam in a stock 350 and stock exhaust

Ya the truck it came out of had this jb weld or some other kinda of glue around it looked like the smashed the hole out with a hammer and glued the radio in people now a days if you cant do it right don't do it at all

For a mild street car you don't need a roller cam or roller rockers jest get a 268h comp cam or the 268xe its way better then stock and isn't to wild great street cam

Big block or small block? We need more info on the car what tranny what gears ect...street/strip car?

I had all the stuff to put that deck in any way pulled it out of our old plow truck can't beat free

If you go the 383 route you will be happy trust me I have a 383 in my monte it don't get much better for chevy 350 pm me if you have any ?s about the 383 Set up iv bulit a few

You said it,you have to keep the cut off wheel speed down all most thought I messed up a few times came out ok

Ya i jest bought a B&M renew kit and shift kit it came with easy to follow instructions that any one with basic automotive knowledge could do it with no problem Mines a th350 i would assume that the th400 kit is some what similar

Sweet next on my list is gauges nothing fancy jest 3 for under the dash water temp amps and oil pressure

Picked the squarish one in the end it jest looked better then the gray rounded one

I tried to put a cassette player in it i got with the car didn't work so i started cutting, Well tried a hack saw blade to cut the metal didn't work so i pulled out the cut off wheel and started cutting away then i trimmed it with the hack saw blade and filled down all the sharp edges looks pretty good the it wired in nice and easy my station didn't come in(92.1)will see what happens on the road with it

How well do you think this thing will run for a club together

all these parts I have jest laying around so I'm going to toss some thing together so how do you think a performer intake would work I think I have a 600 holly

I have a 1986 k5 blazer im tossing together and want some opinions so hears what im working with 1970 350 4bolt main 010 4.000 bore 268h comp cams .454/.454 all new bottom end no run time 193 tbi heads milled to 62cc chambers new bronze guides 3 angle valve job and a full port and polish new 120lbs springs the heads are good to about 4500rpm the high rise marine intake im using a lt1/z28 copy but 1.25 taller and cast iron is good around 4500-7000 speed pro cast pistons flat tops sealed power file fit rings sealed power lifters comp cams push rods 1.5 ratio roller tip rockers 750 holly 1 5/8 headers with thrush glass packs New gm hei distributor all other parts are pretty much stock replacement and im sure im forgetting stuff what do you think im going to get out of this build i dont know whats going to happen with the rpm range difference between heads and intake
