It sure does me ole heart good to see another RED Monte

My 72 started with the key turning backwards. It happened after I changed to a tilt steering column. I used the old switch but a tilt column uses a reverse mount switch causing the problem. Switched back tot he switch that came on the tilt column and that fixed it. I had to take the wiring harness and twist it 180 degrees from the was it was in the non tilt column.

When I got my 72 it has Corona overflow reservoir

I looked at a 72 yesterday and the wire going to the solenoid was yellow and ran along the inside of the drivers side valve cover from the firewall. I am getting ready to reinstall my AC for the trip to the Eastern Meet in GA. so I have been checking out every Monte Chevelle that has I come across.

Doug when I replaced my Holley with a 1406 I started have fuel problems on my 72. The fuel pump was bleeding off/back or whatever. Replace the pump and it starts on the first try now. I really had to crank it over for longer than I liked to get he fuel back to the carb.

My son in-law came over today and we started working on the wiring for the AC. He found one wire by the AC box on the fire wall and traced it to behind the power brake booster. Lo and behold there were all of the wires for the AC compressor and thermal limiter switch. Now all I need is my custom made bracket for the rear of the compressor. The factory bracket gores from the second to the third bolt on the exhaust manifold. Well the headers presented a problem because the 2nd bolt is behind the header tube. So a good friend and fabricator is making a bracket to bridge from the 1st bolt to the 3rd one. Thanks for the wiring diagram Mike it sure helped. I may actually have AC by the middle of July.

At one time early in my GM employment I was setting up the neutral safety switches for service packaging. I put the shear pin in the hole and really did not know what that switch did at the time. 18 or 19 years old I was very unmechanicaly inclined.

I have always free handed my stripes on my stuff. When I worked in a body shop we used to free hand all of the stripes because each van was different but still the same basic style. We did them all little different so no two were ever the same. I got quite good at laying out the stripes but when it cam time to pinstripe my pickup I let someone else do it. I have not done any striping in about 20years.

Eldebrock 1406 on my 290HP/350. Runs great even better than it did when it had the Holley on it.

Ordered the rebuilt AC compressor, expansion valve, drier,thermal limiter fuse and the two wire plug for the compressor clutch. Parts should be in hand by noon tomorrow.

Autozone and Discount Auto stuff may come with a lifetime warranty but I get tired of changing them out all the time! But who's lifetime?? The last part I bought form Autozone I replaced three times in a year before I went and bought a good rebuilt one.

Just keep a couple of old shirts for the dirty work. That has worked for me for over 40yrs. If I know I am going to do a real dirty job out come the old ratty shirts. I have dirty ratty shirts for that kind of work, work shirts for most other jobs, work shirts to wear to work and then the Sunday go to meetin shirts.

I hope you have that hood tied down so a strong breeze doe not come up and blow it away.

I am reinstalling the AC on my 72. The compressor that came with the car has a hi temp switch on it. The replacement does not. Does this switch have to be on there? I have no wiring under the hood that I have found yet so need a schematic so I can get his done before the Eastern Meet. I would hate to go to GA and not take the Monte. Glendia says no ac no Monte.

What is the back space on the wheels?

Went to a car show in Pendleton IN yesterday and got a top 30 trophy. Lot of nice cars but ONE ONE MONTE.
