  3. I have heard of some guys around here that bought tires online and then had a problem. They had to buy a tire locally so they could send the damaged one back at their own cost and then the claim was denied. I guess it is another buyer beware but then others have had problems and they were well taken care of.
  4. Fred does the light on the radio come on when the light are on? That could show you are getting power to the radio. Either there is no power or a loose speaker wire connection are the two most likely options.
  5. That is why we are here to help one another. I also replied to your PM
  6. It could be the antenna wire got knocked loose. It plugs into the back of the radio. Is the antenna in the windshield? My 70 had that antenna and it was a problem at times. My present 72 Monte has a power antenna on top of the left quarter.

    Starter

The gear is not attached to the nose housing but to a shaft in the nose housing and when the shim is put in between the nose housing and the main part is when the gear is moved away for the flywheel.

    Starter

The shim goes between the nose housing and the main part of the starter. This moves the gear farther away from the flywheel. As much as yours needed moved back/forward/away from the flywheel it may be a moot point.

    Starter

Cut the shim close to the hole you are going to use. If it is the inner hole/closest to the block double sided tape will hold it in place while you bolt it in. You just want a small piece so it rocks/angles the starter.
  10. I have helped repair holes in gas tank with the gas still in them. We solder them with a soldering iron. Took a pc of cooled rolled heated it with a torch and then took it to the tank while the tank was still on the car. I asked my boss about that and he poured gas into a open container and heated the iron and put the iron in to open container and it just sizzled like it was in water. After that I had no qualms about going under the car and soldering the tank.
  11. That is pretty good Chris it went form being a Monte Carlo under Tarp to a Rusty Bucket Gran Prix. I am sure I do not want one of those tarp any where near my place. I can just see my Kubota turning into a Deere. Oh No Mr Bill.
  12. Frankie T that is not a very big garage but it is better than the present one eh. I have been very lucky to have the room and funds to have one 23 X 24 garage. One 24 X 24 garage/woodshop and the 12 X 16 shed for the tractor and yard tools and I wished I had more garage space as this winter my pick up sat out in the elements.
  13. Willie any paint store that sells automotive paint that they mix on site should have a Vinyl that would work. I am only familiar with Dupont because I have worked there for most of the past 12 years. PPG has automotive an paint and should have the vinyl. I have worked with a couple of others over the years but the names escape. at the moment you know old timers keeps getting in the way. A couple of other names that suddenly popped into the memory are Ditzler and Dymont pay no attention to my spelling but that is what the names sound like. The vinyl stuff is not cheap by any means but automotive paint has had 4 price increases in the last 14 months.
  14. It sounded like the fan rubbing the shroud to me also.
  15. They are 15 X 8 Vintique unilug rally's Are these the type of wheels that fit several different cars. The lug not holes are actually slotted some. I had a friend who had some wheel with the slotted holes and he had nothing but trouble with them
  16. Thanks Grease for the link. I ordered that kit plus the bracket for the accelerator and cruise cables.
  17. Frankie when you get your new garage done you can come and put one up for my Monte to sit in during the winter. My pickup sat outside this year and I do not care fro scrapping ice and snow although this year has been one of the mildest I can remember.
  18. I did my daughters Pontiac 6000 20 years ago and she drove it for 6 years and it still looked new when I sold the car. I used the Dupont Vinyl and it matched the dark blue interior perfectly
  19. All along this process..(new power wire) one could install a kill switch at a location of choice. An excellent idea. My 72 has one and when I flip the switch you will not get it started. Mine is hidden under the dash but within reach from the drivers seat. I have turned it of a few times and forgot to flip it back on. After a couple of tries I hit myself on the forehead and say dummy flip the one switch or you will sit here all nite LOL LOL
  20. On my 1994 Chevy Pickemup it was cheaper to buy new than re core by over $100.
  21. Just take and get it powder coated. They will blast it aand then make it look soo purrtty
