The difference being the 700r4 came with the same car but the engine was a 5.7 liter or 350cubic inch engine. John I know the tail piece may be a different length but not sure. I just remembered reading somewhere over the years someone using it on the other motor, try asking on one of the firebird forums, they are probably like the Monte owners and had tried everything!
