monte70car
A few months back we were giving a 73 big block for the 72 that ran roughly 10 years ago. The person we got it from said it might need to be freshen up. Last night we ended up pulling the heads and found this When turning the motor over it goes so far both clock wise and counter clock wise before it gets tight. monte70car
We got the motor to turn over fully now wiped down the cylinder walls and top of the pistons. The cylinder walls are nice and smooth with no ridge on the wall. The top of the pistons have either a 6 or 9 stamped on the top with number 7 have a 10 not sure what those stamps are for unless its how many grams they had to grind off. Other then number 8 having a rust build up on the cylinder wall we are thinking to hone the block and re-ring it and throw a stock 402 cam in it. Is there anything we should look at when doing the rebuild?

Mikstudie
if you have a rusted cylinder... it needs to be bored...period you can hone it until your arms fall off, it will use oil you will also change the piston to cylinder clearance Hate to say it but Sam is right on..
