grey95chevyboy
As title says, unforuntaly the prior owner decided he wanted a posi without paying posi money and welded the gears on the 8.5. I just picked up at my local yard a 1970 bop 8.2 out of a lemans sport.stock auburn posi with 2.73 i believe,Is it a direct swap? being abody to abody i think it would be, just figured i should ask before i start swaping it out and finding unexpected issues.I will eventually fix the 8.5 but just need the car to go without chirping the tires at every turn for the time being. Btw my car is a 71 monte carlo if that means anything. Thanks. John

Leghome
I do not know if it came with the car or was replaced by one of the previous owners. I would not have known it was an 8.2 except the guy I bought it from had all kinds of paperwork on the stuff he had put in the car. He purchased an 8.5 posi unit with 3.73 gears and had to exchange it for a 8.2.

AL M
My 70 came factory with a bop rear and 278 gears. I built it up for my small block with a new posi and ring and pinion but didnt upgrade the axles. I snapped one like a pretzel rod. Supposed to be a really good rear. I went with a ford 9 instead.
