GatorDog72
My car is completely stripped of the original wiring and electrical system. I need to assemble the accessory drive on the engine and I'm not sure what type of alternator I should get. I have March Performance brackets and pulleys, here's the link. Will a 10 or 12 SI style alternator work? My new setup will put a lot more strain on the electrical system with electric fans, water pump, and a big fuel pump. I also want one that's a newer, internally regulated unit to simplify wiring. I'll be wiring the whole car with an aftermarket Painless harness, not sure if that will make a difference in the alternator that I can use. Sam (Bones)
I'm using a 1 wire 100 amp unit with no issues for over 8 years now

GatorDog72
Only 1 wire....now that's what I call simple. Thanks for the info, didn't know these even existed. That will save a lot of time over a 3-wire from the junkyard!
Sam (Bones)
on mine you have to rev the engine to approx 1600 rpm to get it to start charging, and it will stay charging to approx 600 rpm
